Romy Jane or Ivy Jane?

Romy is my choice and Ivy DH's. Jane is a middle name we are def going to have as it is the name of a lovely friend of ours who passed last year. FYI we already have a Callum.

Nobody we speak to finds fault with Ivy but I've had a few "Repeat that, sorry?" 's when I mention Romy. And one "Sounds chavvy". I never thought that but can't stop thinking about it. It always sounded bohemian and lovely to me.

Thoughts?

Ivy Jane

Romy, definitely. Ivy is just getting on the granny chic bandwagon with all the Florence/Betsy/Maud lovers.

Nogodsnomasters · 24/06/2019 11:19

I like both but I think Romy is more original, when I hear ivy all I think of is Beyonce's kid blue ivy.

AverageMummy · 24/06/2019 12:11

I like both actually - I don’t think Romy sounds chavvy but I guess being so unusual it’s got more potential for strong negative associations
I love Ivy though so I’d have to say Ivy Jane

Icklepup · 24/06/2019 12:32

Romy Jane

Or Rowan :)

Peachbubble · 24/06/2019 13:08

I'd choose Ivy Jane

NationMcKinley · 24/06/2019 13:09

Ivy Jane

TatianaLarina · 24/06/2019 13:46

Prefer Romilly. But Romy is better than Ivy.

Poison Ivy is not a great association.

Mollie85 · 24/06/2019 16:09

Romy Grin

Aquamarine1029 · 24/06/2019 16:10

Romy, definitely. Ivy is far too overused.

averythinline · 24/06/2019 16:13

not keen on Romy - could you have the orginal Rosemary/Rosemarie and just use Romy as a nn- for some illogical reason it looks incomplete...

I like Ivy better esp with Jane

Gooseysgirl · 24/06/2019 16:30

I love Ivy Jane (Harry Kane's older daughter is Ivy Jane)

kenandbarbie · 24/06/2019 16:32

Ivy, Romy is a bit more trendy therefor could be accused of being chavvy.

Cornishmum00 · 24/06/2019 16:32

Ivy is very overused, id go with Romy

sleepcrazy · 24/06/2019 16:57

Love the name Romy. It’s the short form of Rosemarie made famous by German actress Romy Schneider.

I don’t find it at all chav (such a horrible word) it’s just not a common British name yet. It is becoming an increasingly popular choice in France. Julia Restoin Roitfeld has a Romy.

Ivy is nice although lacks any sparkle and it is becoming very common now.

Shadow1234 · 24/06/2019 17:04

VeryImportantTests · 24/06/2019 17:32

Jane and Janie are great. Do without the others or make them middle names.

mamaoffourdc · 24/06/2019 17:39

I love both names however ivy Jane rolls better together than than romy Jane x

MingeOnFire · 24/06/2019 19:51

Ivy Jane.

I dislike Romy a lot, and have a feeling it will become quite popular over next few years

Frith2013 · 24/06/2019 19:54

I know 2 Romys. I teach one (about 15) and the other is friends with my son, so about 18.

I quite like it but also like Ivy.

Frith2013 · 24/06/2019 19:55

Could you have 2 middle names e.g Romy Jane Ivy?

redvelvet6 · 24/06/2019 19:57
