AverageMummy · 23/06/2019 20:56

I am feeling sooo sick & sorry for myself

Please help distract me with thoughts & suggestions on names. I feel like I don’t love any name whatsoever which is frustrating. This is number 3 but listing the other 2 will be a bit outing.

Names I quite like but for one reason or another don’t love:

Beatrice
Sophia
Alice
Susannah
Georgia
Thalia (confused by pronunciation which prob ruins this one)

I have boys, but our girl names were:-

Isabella Dulcie
Seren Dulcie
Esme Savannah Rae
Willow Luna

We had girls name straight away, boys were harder, and we were choosing ds2’s name as I was pushing him out lol

ThisIsMeOrIsIt · 23/06/2019 22:06

Susannah - horrible, old

Ouch! I know a Susannah in her 30s. She's lovely and it suits her (although we usually call her Susie).

SurreyMumOfOne · 23/06/2019 22:12

Oh thank goodness, thought you were about to suggest 'Sick' for a name.

DaisyChainsForever · 23/06/2019 22:15

Sophronia · 23/06/2019 23:45

Susannah is my favourite. Beautiful, classic Biblical name with lots of nickname potential (Susie, Annie, Anna, Sunny, Zannah etc.)

martinidry · 23/06/2019 23:58

Susannah is lovely.

Nina
Jemima
Miranda

Eloise
Rachael
Veronica
Audrey

UnderTheTree · 24/06/2019 01:04

Beatrice - I have never liked this but prob due to my own personal taste
Sophia - overused
Alice - fine
Susannah - I like Susie
Georgia - ok but seems a bit dated, very popular in the 90s / early 2000s
Thalia - lovey, I knew a Tahlia many years ago.

rickyst · 24/06/2019 01:14

The only one I like is Thalia. Pronounced 'tar-lee-ar'.

Very pleased Sick wasn't your name choice...

We liked Ava.

Astronica · 24/06/2019 01:14

All beautiful names on your list, except for Thalia which doesn't appeal to me. In Australia where I live Talia was a very popular name in the 80s and 90s so it doesn't feel as up to date as the others. Also I do think Thalia will have pronunciation issues. The standout for me is the beautiful Susannah - and underused classic!

MollyHuaCha · 24/06/2019 01:16

Beatrice - nice
Sophia - nice
Alice - nice
Susannah - love this
Georgia - ok
Thalia - ok, but there will be a lifetime of mis-spellings and mia-pronunciations.

I also like:

Charlotte
Greta
Alexandra
Penelope
Meredith
Serena
Brogan
Caroline
Fenella
Saskia
Ines
Florence

ArloRoo01 · 24/06/2019 05:45

All boys here, but names I had were

Elise
Rowan
Dulcie
Grace
Marci

wizzler · 24/06/2019 06:07

Martha
Madeleine
Genevieve

Love Suzannah from your list

AverageMummy · 24/06/2019 08:24

Simone Dulcie & Madeleine are all lovely suggestions I’ll have too see what my husband says (he tends to hate EVERYTHING)

Rowan I think I prefer for a boy? We have a boys name but I might see if I can add this

OP posts:
Ellmau · 25/06/2019 20:22

I like Susanna without an h.

What about Miranda?

Frith2013 · 26/06/2019 18:45

Beatrice - ok
Sophia - too popular
Alice - dull
Susannah - old fashioned abc reminds me of that dreadful duo who used to dress women up
Georgia - ok
Thalia - ok, but rhymes with failure

SaltedCaramelEverything · 27/06/2019 10:22

I thought sick was going to be the initials Grin hope you’re ok OP.

Name suggestions (some PPs may have said already) based on your list -
Ottilie
Alba
Callie
Thea

TheVeryHungryTortoise · 27/06/2019 20:35

They're all a bit meh for me personally, but I don't hate any of them either. I don't like Tahlia but I knew a Dalia (DAH-LEE-UH) at school and think it's a lovely name.

Marty93 · 27/06/2019 20:46

Hi OP hope your sickness subsides soon..

All of your names are lovely, traditional names which I love. Although Thalia is my least favourite.

Other names I really like for girls:

Poppy
Sophie
Lydia
Grace
Isobel
Clara
Bella
Tilly
Lexa
Charlotte
Hazel
