Thoughts on these names please...
I don’t want to discuss name options with family & friends but would like to know what other people think about our current top runners...

Rory Xander (surname)

Aurelia Iris (surname)

TIA

Love them both!

nothingtowearever · 21/06/2019 21:19

ESP your girls names they're beautiful together

WhenZogateSuperworm · 21/06/2019 21:20

Yes love them both. I’m biased though as I have an Iris.

WhiteLightTrainWreck · 21/06/2019 21:21

They are lovely! And both first and middle names work so well together!

BurtTyrannosaurusMacklin · 21/06/2019 21:21

I like all but Xander, which I am REALLY not a fan of.

Mwnci123 · 21/06/2019 21:26

I like Rory and Iris. I think Xander and Aurelia are ok but a bit pretentious.

PolarBearBubbles · 21/06/2019 21:30

Love both names, but especially your girls name!

meow1989 · 21/06/2019 21:32

Rory Xander is a bit of a mouthful for me, think it's the y into the z sound, they merge into one name.
What about Rory Alexander?

Girls.name is nice.

MyNewBearTotoro · 21/06/2019 21:35

Aurelia Iris is lovely.

I love the name Rory but Rory Xander sounds clunky to me. It really doesn’t work as a full name to my ears, I think maybe because Xander seems more like a nickname it feels odd/ jarring to have it as a middle name and also I feel Xander just doesn’t flow well from Rory. Rory Alexander sounds much nicer.

AverageMummy · 21/06/2019 21:36

Love Rory a lot
Aurelia is not for me but nice

AdaColeman · 21/06/2019 21:38

I like Aurelia Iris and think the names sit well together.

I like Rory, but am not at all keen on Xander, I much prefer the full name of Alexander, also I don't think Rory Xander works particularly well as a combination.

ISmellBabies · 21/06/2019 21:41

Lovely names!

DickZillaofTheVilla · 21/06/2019 21:43

I like them both

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 21/06/2019 21:46

Like a pp I like Rory and Iris but not Xander or Aurelia

DramaAlpaca · 21/06/2019 21:47

I prefer Rory Alexander, and I like Aurelia Iris.

Barbarafromblackpool · 21/06/2019 21:47

How do you say Aurelia? Or ree Lee ah?

bluemoony · 21/06/2019 21:51

Aurelia would be pr. ‘Or-ray-leah’

Thanks for the feedback, the Xander being more of a nickname was my main concern with the more traditional Rory, but really not keen on Alexander...

Au ray lee ah. I shortlisted this name for DD many years ago! Didn’t quite make the cut as DH thought it didn’t go with other names. He was wrong but I was in a conciliatory mood at the time!

Names are not pretentious. They are just names. Often names go through periods of fashion and some are just classy - always. Go for your choices. Who wants the same name as everyone else anyway?

Watersnail · 21/06/2019 21:55

I like Aurelia and Xander.

Jellyfishsmack · 21/06/2019 21:58

I don't mind Rory - don't love it, but it is nice.

Hate Xander. Probably irrationally - mainly because the ones I have met as adults are utter shits, and the children ones I know are real brats and their parents are completely self absorbed selfish twats. I do not know a nice Xander.

I really like Iris and Aurelia.

MollyMaloney · 21/06/2019 22:14

I have slight difficulties pronouncing my Rs so always dread having to say the name Rory! Same with Aurora, but that doesn't crop up so much. Fine with names like Aurelia as it's just the one R sound. Probably not really a consideration for most people....!Grin

Prettylittlelady · 21/06/2019 22:24

Really love the girls name...not too keen on the boys....and even if you went on to have one of both, they don’t really ‘go’ together if you see what I mean, they see quite different styles

Fullmoons · 21/06/2019 23:13

Quite a few people struggle with their R. Rory is particularly difficult to pronounce for them. Just a consideration.

Astronica · 22/06/2019 05:39

I really like Rory Xander.

Aurelia is not my taste, but I like Iris.

Barbarafromblackpool · 22/06/2019 07:12

Think I prefer Iris.
