I seem to be drawn to short simple names (although there are some exceptions).

What are your thoughts on these? I’m wondering if pregnancy hormones are drawing me to the unusual....

Alba
Thea
Heidi
Alma
Lyra
Ada

DHs sister just gave birth to Thea. She's the most scrumptious little dot so I'm biased towards that!

AverageMummy · 17/06/2019 22:51

@Tillygetsit oh how lovely! Is she just Thea rather than Theodora or Dorothea? I really do love the name!

I love Ada, and Ida.
Thea is sweet but not my fav.

Sophronia · 17/06/2019 23:28

I like Alma and Ada.

manicinsomniac · 18/06/2019 00:22

I like all of them except Alma.

Lyra is my favourite.

OddshoesOddsocks · 18/06/2019 00:26

Thea, Heidi and Ada are my faves.

I had a great auntie Ida which I may use for hypothetical future dd.

I know some lovely little Theas

DramaAlpaca · 18/06/2019 00:28

I also like short, simple names - but we have completely different taste Grin

I quite like Lyra & Ada, but the others aren't my style at all.

Astronica · 18/06/2019 01:17

I quite like Ada, and find Alba interesting, don't mind Thea, but not a fan of the others.

Peachbubble · 18/06/2019 06:45

Love them all, apart from Ada

littlebillie · 18/06/2019 06:47

Love all of them

Modestandatinybitsexy · 18/06/2019 07:38

Not keen on Alba or Alma. Lyra and Thea are my favourite.

MikeUniformMike · 18/06/2019 09:00

Alba - not keen
Thea - Don't like it
Heidi - lovely
Alma ok
Lyra - will date badly
Ada - awful

MummaGiles · 18/06/2019 09:02

Alba was on our list if we had a girl

Thea is also lovely

Phare · 18/06/2019 09:03

I like Thea and Ada, and am neutral on the others apart from Heidi, which is sickeningly twee, and Alma, which always reminds me of a spiteful podgy girl called Alma Pudden in either Malory Towers or St Clare’s.

AshQ · 18/06/2019 09:51

Really like Heidi

AudacityOfHope · 18/06/2019 09:52

I LOVE Alba!

BlueChampagne · 18/06/2019 13:39

Less keen on Alma and Ada. How about Zoe?

WineIsMyCarb · 18/06/2019 13:47

Unhelpful, maybe, but short names on my list were:

Chloe
Anna
Freya
Laura
Zara

From your list I love Heidi. Will genuinely be uncommon, whereas I think there might be a few of the others about if you live in a 'naice' / middle class /affluent area.

All the best for the rest of your pregnancy

MikeUniformMike · 18/06/2019 13:54

Kim
Zoe
Jill
Cara

MikeUniformMike · 18/06/2019 13:58

Gail
Erin
Jane

MynameisJune · 18/06/2019 14:55

We had Thea on our list, I think it’s lovely. Also had

Gaia
Asha
Olive
Hope
Erin

bridgetreilly · 18/06/2019 17:33

Thea and Ada are lovely. I don't really like any of your other suggestions, sorry.

diddlediddle · 18/06/2019 17:57

They're all nice. Some are more unusual than the others but tbh they fit with the girls name trend for the last 2-3 years of 4 letter names ending in "a" - so even though if you look up the numbers of girls named each one separately they won't be very high they all seem familiar. Which is neither good nor bad just saying that I don't think you're necessarily being drawn to unusual names! They're pretty.

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 18/06/2019 18:01

I like Heidi and Alba from your list.
I see a pp has suggested Hope, I was going to put forward Faith.

AverageMummy · 18/06/2019 20:15

@WineIsMyCarb thank you
Although no I don’t live in an affluent area at all!
