Have asked before about names and narrowed down but put together short list for our baby boy with DH...

Honest opinions??

My favourite is Jasper and DH likes Arthur best

I also like Arthur too just prefer Jasper x

Jasper - lovely
Sebastian - my favourite
Arthur - not a fan..I think largely because I’ve heard too many being called back to their mothers
Theodore - lovely
Alexander - lovely
William - lovely
Matthew - lovely
Gabriel - love, but was never sure I’d have the guts for it

My top three are Sebastian, William and Jasper.

Bottom three are Theodore, Gabriel and Matthew.

Great names. Matthew and jasper would be my favourite names. Locally all the others are very popular (because they are great names!)

I think lots of your choices are quite popular at the moment. You might find Matthew is quite unique for his age depending where in the country you are! Jasper is nice.

I love your taste in names. DS is one of these (and gets lots of compliments on his name)

And Alexander and Theodore are on my list if DC2 is a boy.

Lovely names. Another name you might like is Fraser, kind of a softer sounding version of Jasper.

I can't bear Arthur! It's a drippy, old man name. It's incomprehensibly popular too.
William has been very popular for years (we decided not to name DS2 that, because we already knew so many and the school is stuffed full of them). Lovely name though.
Sebastian - a bit posh. Are you posh?
I know two little Matthews I can't stand, so that would be out.
Gabriel I love (wanted that DS2, but DH wrinkled his nose up)
Alexander I love.
Jasper - means reddish-brown. Cool name for a red-haired boy!
Theodore is a tugboat and I dunno - just suggests a rather lumpen individual to me. The name just sounds heavy and plodding somehow.

Not Jasper, makes me think of the Carrot one and ghosts. Also many dogs called Jasper.

Not Matthew.

The others are all good.

Instead of Gabriel, how about Gideon?

All nice names but Theodore, Arthur and Sebastian are all quite widely used where I live. Gabriel is my favourite.

I love all of them apart from Jasper and Matthew.

Jasper makes me think of Jasper Carrot and one of the baddies from 101 Dalmations. It’s a bit Cat’s Name for me.

Matthew, although a classic is so dull. I’m the same age as you and there were something like 8 in my year at school, so it feels a bit dated now as well.

I have a William- he’s 12 weeks and I love how many nicknames there are for him. Still feeling it out, but I think he’s definitely a Will.

Jasper is lovely. Also Gabriel. I know 1 Gabriel who goes by Gabe, he really suits it.
