All names from my generation and names that will seem dated now, but all names I love!
May not be brave enough to use myself but would love to see in use again!
Also how old is the youngest person you know with each name? (just out of interest)

Lisa
Caroline
Sarah
Joanna
Kerry
Nicola
Karen
Jenny
Claire
Victoria

Seriously, I don't think you need to be brave to use any of those names. [confuse] Grin They're perfectly usable names that won't raise an eyebrow. No one's going to be surprised to meet a baby Sarah.

CoffeeRunner · 12/06/2019 14:50

I know a baby Sarah and a 5 year old Jenny.

I like Victoria.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 12/06/2019 14:50

Youngest Lisa, 31
youngest Jenny 19,
youngestClaire is a baby
I know a lot of little Sarah’s aged 11 down to newborn,
Youngest Caroline 30
Youngest Nicola 35,

Peachsummer · 12/06/2019 14:52

Joanna is the name I’d have picked for myself (instead of the chavvy 70s classic my parents saddled me with).

SundayMorningSun · 12/06/2019 14:54

I don't think you need to be particularly brave to use any of them! They're all nice enough - no clearly terrible associations. Not at their absolute peak right now, but that's no bad thing.

Ages of those I know:

Lisa - 20
Caroline - 21
Sarah - 11
Joanna - new baby (also a new baby Joan)
Kerry - not sure I know any
Nicola - 30
Karen - 18
Jenny - new baby
Claire - about 5 (also many called Clara)
Victoria - 18

PinkieTuscadero · 12/06/2019 14:58

Lisa - 21
Caroline - 16
Sarah -1
Joanna -30ish
Kerry - 30ish
Nicola - 25
Karen - 40
Jenny - 14
Claire - 2
Victoria -6

Crushedvelvetcouch · 12/06/2019 15:18

I like Jenny and Sarah.

TurquoiseAndPurple · 12/06/2019 15:39

Yawn. None.

tiramisu1 · 12/06/2019 15:46

Why would you need to be brave? Confused

They're all good names that would stand out among all the Evies and Ellies.

I particularly like Sarah, Victoria and Caroline!

Pemba · 12/06/2019 16:19

I don't think we're ready for a Karen revival, it is perfectly inoffensive but still it was overdone in the 60s/70s, seems dull. And Kerry never was classy at all.

Apart from that I like them all, particular Sarah and Caroline as pp said. Also Jenny, but would have Jennifer on the birth certificate and use Jenny as the nickname - lovely. For some reason Joanna is classic but Joanne does seem dated and very 60s/70s.

Mrsfrumble · 12/06/2019 16:24

I know a 4 year old Lisa.

I also met a little Judy at a toddler group recently which I loved.

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/06/2019 16:32

I have taught at least one pupil of each name in the last 5/6 years - high school age

Sophronia · 12/06/2019 16:33

I really like Caroline, Sarah, Joanna and Jenny.

AshQ · 12/06/2019 16:38

I only like Sarah.

Lisa - 27
Caroline - 40
Sarah - 5
Joanna - 35
Kerry - don’t know any
Nicola - 26
Karen - don’t know any
Jenny - 33
Claire - don’t know any
Victoria - 24

Cookit · 12/06/2019 16:48

I like Caroline, Sarah and Victoria. All of these 3 are classics albeit slightly out of favour at the moment.

Lisa, Kerry and Karen etc I would put in a completely different category in that these were quite faddy names in the 60s and 70s. I don’t really like them.

Fulltimemummy85 · 12/06/2019 18:16

Love Sarah and Victoria and know a baby Jenny

grace7 · 12/06/2019 18:22

Lisa: 42
Caroline: 18
Sarah: 21
Joanna: 38
Kerry: 5
Nicola: 39
Karen: 24
Jenny: 36
Clair: 36
Victoria: 3 (maybe 4)

BlackPrism · 12/06/2019 18:27

Victoria is the only even half nice one. All very 80s

DrDentyst · 12/06/2019 18:39

Victoria is still within the top 100 girls names and Sarah only fell out (to 103) in 2017 so they're not statistically 'dated'. But to answer your question :-

Lisa - 38
Caroline - 45 (but was on our list for our dd4)
Sarah - 7
Joanna - 35
Kerry - a girl at park I was ta recently was called this she was approx 18 months.
Nicola - 30
Karen - 35
Jenny - 30
Claire - 38
Victoria - 36

BlessYourCottonSocks · 12/06/2019 18:50

Lisa - mid 40s
Caroline - 54
Sarah - 14
Joanna - 28
Kerry - 17
Nicola - 14
Karen - 20
Jenny - 17
Claire - 37
Victoria -11

I'm an (old) teacher and one of these is my name. Victoria is very popular in Polish/Lithuanian - although it's often spelled Wiktoria. I was half convinced you had to name your child Wiktoria if you were Polish to be honest - it is as popular as Ellie appears to be with English pupils of the same age.

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2019 19:17

They're very 1960s/70s to me.
Classic and perfectly ok:
Caroline
Sarah
Joanna
Victoria
Jennifer
Classic but way overused back then (and I've never met a nice one):
Claire
Nice but overused then:
Lisa
OK but just too 1960s:
Nicola
Karen
Just awful:
Kerry

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/06/2019 19:45

All the names you've mentioned are 70s names, so what you call Nana names. As pps have proven they're already coming back.

WittyFool · 12/06/2019 19:53

I always liked the name Joanna

PinkieTuscadero · 12/06/2019 19:55

The main thing Joanna has going for it is the Scott Walker song. I'd love if Scott Walker had sung a song featuring my name! Whadda voice.

foxtiger · 12/06/2019 21:22

I like most of them! Lisa and Nicola are not quite my cup of tea, plus a name that's related to Lisa but different is used a lot in my family which would effectively rule any other version out, but I'd have been happy to use any of the others when I was naming children about 20 years ago and I'd still be happy to use them now. In fact Sarah was our top choice for a girl, but we never had a girl.

Youngest person:

Lisa - I think about 24 now and the next youngest is about 28
Caroline - don't know - haven't met any at all for a long long time
Sarah - about 22
Joanna - 20 but she's Polish - does that still count?
Kerry - I think about 22
Nicola - I know 2 who are 14!
Karen - probably about 35
Jenny - 20/21 (just Jenny) and 18/19 (Jenny hyphenated with another name)
Claire - I think maybe about 30 but I'm not sure
Victoria - 2 very little Polish ones, 1 English one about 24ish
