Summer?

I really like this name Summer what does everyone think about it?

Love the name but have generally found the people who have it to be hard work so probably wouldn't use it myself.

I know 2 summers and they're always 'sum or sums' so if you're ok with the nn's then it's nice x

I don’t like it. It’s my neighbour’s DD’s name and I hear her calling “Sum-ah, Sum-aaaah”, and it sounds really harsh.

I only know one and she's lovely. I like the name a lot.

I'm really torn I already have a Cassie and i think it goes quite well together I'm not sure though?

Lovely name but only if baby is summer-born (June to August) in my opinion. An person I know has a December-born Summer, and it just feels a bit silly especially when someone asks if she has a summer birthday, and I imagine it’ll be the bane of the poor child’s life explaining this in the future

I know someone called May & they said it’s really annoying thinking everyone is talking about you / saying your name at work constantly - I’d imagine Summer might be similarly annoying

Summer is a name. I don’t think it needs to be quantified with birthdates.

‘Ooh, Summer. Cool name. Is your birthday in the Summer?’

‘My birthday is in December, so it’s Summer in the Southern Hemisphere, but that’s kinda irrelevant. Bye!’

I don't like it as a name at all.

I love it and definitely wouldn't only use it for a summer-born baby. When I think of all the people I know and their characteristics, when they were born is probably the last thing that comes to mind.

Absolutely love this name and it has great connotations. It'd be interesting to see exactly why people don't like this name, I'm intrigued?

Love it and know a lovely Summer. Always called Summer and never abbreviated.

I have a Summer and have only ever had positive comments about it. It's a happy sunshine-y name and it reflects her personality perfectly. The only person that has ever shortened it is a 2 year old who calls her Sum Sum which is cute from a 2 year old who can't yet say Summer but it won't stick as an actual nickname!

My husband picked the name and was adamant on it where I wasn't 100% convinced at first. Now I love it, it suits her perfectly and I can't imagine her being called anything else.

@Sessy19 the May I know said it’s incredibly irritating being constantly asked when her birthday is by every person she meets

Bit of an excessive reaction to a name. You're entitled to your opinion but there are nicer ways to express it.

Reading these all through I think I will go with this name still a long way off yet of even finding out if it's a girl but if it is she will be Summer. Thanks Everyone x
