Hi everyone!

32 weeks along and still not sure on a name for our little girl 👧
I want my mum's middle name in there in some way which was Ann, she made me promise to never call my daughter her first name, Sheila 😂 (though if anyone has any ideas on a name that incorporates Sheila I would love!)
I said as she will be named after my mum that Daddy's mum names could be added too, which is Lynne.

I wanted to call my daughter Annie... but my other half's cousin has a daughter called Annie... I am just a little gutted about that but... I really do like the name Evelyn.

Below is the short list...

Evelyn (Eve-Lyn)
Annalise (Anna-Lise)
Annie
Evanna (Ev-anna)
Anaya (An-a-Ya)
Marilyn
Betsy

Evelyn Annie
Evelyn Ann
Annalise Evelyn
Evelyn Annalise
Evanna Betsy

Thought and ideas are much appreciated 💗💗💗

Well you already know I like Evelyn Wink (although you’ve gone with the Eve pronunciation but it’s still lovely) but actually in terms of which first & middle name combo sounds best I think I prefer Evanna Betsy. Evelyn is too nice to have as a middle name, but with it as a first name with an n at the end and the an at the beginning of the middle name they sort of run into each other, you know?

Elsa / Ilsa / Leah - letters in Sheila

Jossina · 03/06/2019 05:00

I think Shelia is a form of Cecilia, so you could use that.

Ricekrispie22 · 03/06/2019 06:00

Evanna Caitlyn

SnowdropFox · 03/06/2019 06:44

Are you close/see DH cousin often? If not then I'd use Annie! It's a lovely name. Something like Annie Caitlyn would honour both mums.

Canone · 03/06/2019 06:53

Evelyn Ann is pretty, classic, and incorporates all the names you want to use quite clearly. I’d go with that.

Congrats and good luck!

MoonMerry · 03/06/2019 07:03

How about Sheena (for your mum)

Penny4Thoughts · 03/06/2019 07:31

Celia !
Celia Ann is a really beautiful name

CFlips · 03/06/2019 07:37

Annalynne? (Literally Anna-lynne) to avoid any doubt haha!

Astronica · 03/06/2019 07:37

Unless you're close to the cousin and see them a lot I would still use Annie. I like pp's idea of Annie Caitlyn. Annie Linnea? Annie Lyndall?

Otherwise my choice would be the lovely Anneliese (or Annalise if you prefer.) Anneliese Evelyn would work.

Verily1 · 03/06/2019 07:39

Lyann

Icklepup · 03/06/2019 08:10

I like Evanna Betsy.
What about something similar like Stella?

Tillygetsit · 03/06/2019 23:12

I've met a 3 year old called Shalie. Dont know if its a real name or if I've spelt it right (its said Hailey with a shhh) but it's an anagram of Sheila!

HannahB64 · 03/06/2019 23:16

Arya, Sansa, Jon, Bran, Robb, Khal Drogo

JaneGlorianaVillanueva · 03/06/2019 23:19

I really like Evanna!

Shadow1234 · 04/06/2019 00:30

Annalise is beautiful.

Kokeshi123 · 04/06/2019 00:59

Marilyn is unusual and pretty--I like this one best. "Mari" is a pretty nickname too. Betsy, Annie and Annelise are also nice. I think a second cousin (or is that first cousin once removed?) with the same name is not a problem, by the way. Or use Annelise and then just shorten to Annie, which will probably happen anyway!

I would probably stay away from any of the "Eve" variations just because there is a million of these names around at the mo and they all blur into one after a while.

Watersnail · 04/06/2019 09:45

Leila is a nice name IMO which has the same ending as Sheila.

These names contain "Ann":

Alannah
Annora
Arianna
Susannah
Hannah
Marianne
Shannon
Roxanna
Rhiannon
Leanne
Savannah
Joanna

MikeUniformMike · 04/06/2019 09:47

Evelyn (Eve-Lyn) - yawn
Annalise (Anna-Lise) - ok
Annie - lovely
Evanna (Ev-anna) - no
Anaya (An-a-Ya) - no
Marilyn - no
Betsy - ok

DickieDonkey · 04/06/2019 19:22

Evelyn -ok
Annalise - ok
Annie- really like but agree that it would be a nice nickname to an official name
Evanna - sounds nice
Anaya (An-a-Ya) - ok but definitely prefer Anya (Ann-ya)
Marilyn- don’t like
Betsy-don’t like

bridgetreilly · 04/06/2019 20:02

Your DP's cousins daughter will be your daughter's second cousin. I really, really think it's fine for two second cousins to have the same name.

Malyshek · 04/06/2019 20:54

Based on your message, it really feels like you want to call your daughter Evelyn. If so, go for it ! Don't listen to the naysayers, someone somewhere will always necessarily object !

Regarding the second name, since you want to honor your mum, I'd pick names close to hers but not exactly the same (the baby needs to have her own identity).

Would you like :

Evelyn Shiloh
Evelyn Anastasia

My3boys9910 · 10/06/2019 15:10

Libby-Anne

Fulltimemummy85 · 10/06/2019 18:37

I would d go for Annie, if not what about Anna? Love Evelyn too

rachelgrace · 11/06/2019 21:09

Evelyn Annie is my favourite combination. Evanna is also a very nice name
