Roman is pretty much the only name my DH and I both like. I have some I love more but he won't entertain them. What do you all think of Roman? We have an Autumn already.

Like it and it goes well with Autumn. Both cool and a bit unusual but not too out there.

StrongleBerry · 01/06/2019 20:32

Love it.

mindproject · 01/06/2019 20:34

I don't like it.

Peachbubble · 01/06/2019 20:36

I like it, goes well with Autumn too

AnneTwackie · 01/06/2019 20:39

My son is called Roman, we’ve never met another yet. We love it but older relatives don’t seem to and some people say Ronan! I think it’s a lovely name ☺️

YouBumder · 01/06/2019 20:40

I like it

CassianAndor · 01/06/2019 20:41

Lovely and goes well with Autumn.

Babdoc · 01/06/2019 20:42

The only Roman I’ve heard of is Roman Polanski, the film director who allegedly raped a13 year old. Not a great association!

Hairyheadphones · 01/06/2019 20:42

I really like it.

I’ve met two, one a Polish man and the other a child with a sister called Sailor.

slipperywhensparticus · 01/06/2019 20:43

My friends son is called Roman its growing in popularity

sincethereis · 01/06/2019 20:43

I’m not sure.

I think of Roman Polanski or Nicki Minaj’s Roman Zolanski or her Roman songs.

It’s definitely not a bad name but just seems meh

EssentialHummus · 01/06/2019 20:46

It’s a solid, well-used name in Russia and EE, pronounced Román. I’m not a fan of the English version.

AdaColeman · 01/06/2019 20:48

I like it very much.

DestinyIsCallingMe · 01/06/2019 20:54

I think Roman Abramovich.

aibutohavethisusername · 01/06/2019 21:02

I like it.

Mac47 · 01/06/2019 21:05

I know 5 aged between 2 and 13. Quite like it but not keen on "Ro/Rome" as a nn.

Moominfan · 01/06/2019 21:11

I like it

AmbridgeGirl · 01/06/2019 21:18

Love it. Currently pregnant and it's on our list if it's a boy.

mistletoeandneatvodka · 01/06/2019 21:19

I like it! Unusual but not unheard of. Really strong sounding too

austenozzy · 01/06/2019 21:26

I like it. I had a friend at school called roman, his family was east European.

Penny4Thoughts · 01/06/2019 21:29

I prefer Rowan but it’s ok - quite nice

StarJumpsandaHalf · 01/06/2019 21:43

Martin Kemp's adult son is Roman. He's a radio host.

Malyshek · 01/06/2019 22:56

I think it's a cool name. If you both like it you should go for it.

Malyshek · 01/06/2019 22:58

By the way- it's fairly common in eastern Europe but not hugely popular afaik. I lived in Russia for a few years and didn't meet a whole lot of Romans. Akeksandr, Dmitriy and Andrey by the dozen, but not Roman. When I left the trend was with older slavic names such as Vsevolod, Vladislav, Gordey or Elisey.

TantricTwist · 01/06/2019 23:11

Martin Kemp and Melanie Sykes both have sons called Roman.

I think it's a lovely strong boys name.
