Girl after two boys - the shortlist

We've narrowed down the options to Phoebe or Helena. Her older brothers are Hector and Jasper. Our surname starts with F. So slight concern about an alliterative sound with Phoebe (although it runs together nicely). And Helena would share a first initial with Hector, but I'm not sure that matters too much.

Would be great to get some views on the following combinations of first name / middle name. Middle names all chosen because of significant meaning or association with an individual.

Phoebe Marianne
Phoebe Helena
Phoebe Maia
Phoebe Beatrix

Helena Marianne
Helena Phoebe
Helena Beatrix
Helena Florence

Thanks!

I prefer phoebe Helena.

junebirthdaygirl · 31/05/2019 07:55

I would go for Helena ..its a lovely name and fits in well with your boys. All the second names are fine although l prefer a family name second. Maybe those are.

Savoretti · 31/05/2019 07:56

Phoebe by a mile
And I like Phoebe Maia

BigusBumus · 31/05/2019 07:57

Helena for sure.

Helena Marianne.

GollyGoshGolly · 31/05/2019 08:00

Helena.

Headboardbanging · 31/05/2019 08:06

Helena Marianne is lovely.
Phoebe sounds a bit childish to me

happychange · 31/05/2019 08:43

Phoebe Helena!

floraloctopus · 31/05/2019 08:52

phoebe marianne is simply gorgeous.

snowrevolution · 31/05/2019 09:04

A spit vote so far! Although Marianne / Helena coming out ahead for the middle name. Really interesting to see how names resonate (especially as we don't want to test them in real life with family and friends).

Phoebe is miles better (although not keen on any of the middle names, sorry!)

whizzpopbangalang · 31/05/2019 09:21

Phoebe Helena - perfect!

Greenfingers1 · 31/05/2019 09:28

I would go with Phoebe if you're going to get annoyed about people not using your chosen pronunciation of Helena.

MrsJakeLovell · 31/05/2019 09:36

Phoebe Beatrix is lovely

wizzler · 31/05/2019 09:42

Helena phoebe gets my vote. Love Helena and not sure on the alliteration of Phoebe F

DailyFailAreTwats · 31/05/2019 09:45

Love Phoebe Beatrix, although Helena Beatrix also scans really well. Great names!!

AmyMaria2 · 31/05/2019 13:10

Phoebe Maia

Mayvis · 31/05/2019 13:16

Hector and Helena sounds like you're big fans of Greek mythology.

bridgetreilly · 31/05/2019 13:22

Phoebe.

I really don't like Hel-AYN-a, though HEL-enna is okay. But Phoebe is better than either.

Phoebe Maia or Phoebe Marianne would be my choices.

mistermagpie · 31/05/2019 13:24

Phoebe is the best choice. I like Helena but I know three who all spell it like that and all pronounce it differently (he-len-a, he-lay-na and he-lee-na), it must be a right old pain people pronouncing it wrong all the time so for that reason I wouldn't use it.

snowrevolution · 31/05/2019 13:37

Mayvis we're not completely obsessed with the Trojan War, although I realise it could seem that way Wink . Mostly just like the feel / meaning of the name Helena.

We do seem drawn to names with classical allusions - Helena, Phoebe and Maia all have Greek roots.

Helena Beatrix is great.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 31/05/2019 16:45

Phoebe Helena is lovely.

missmouse101 · 31/05/2019 16:47

Prefer Hebe to those! Could that be an option? Grin

TildaTurnip · 31/05/2019 16:47

Helena is lovely. Phoebe just sounds like noises...nice noises though (I know this sounds ridiculous) and a bit childish.
