Hi everyone
I am pregnant with twin girls, the first of which I will call Molly.
We were set on Lilah for Molly’s twin but we have two other daughters called Bella and Alice...
is Bella and Lilah too similar?
The only other name we like is Hazel! What do you think?
Suggestions welcome as we don’t love Hazel

No I think Bella and Lilah sound okay.
Other suggestions though
Sofia. Daisy. Lucy. Katy. Poppy. Freya
Hannah. Heidi. Nancy. Lydia. Sarah.
Chloe. Emma. Rose. Grace. Edie.

Estellastar · 28/05/2019 18:30

No Lilah and Bella aren’t too similar!
I know you said you’re set on it but I really don’t like Molly! I hear that and I think of the drug to be honest with you.
Love love love Hazel!!!

OhhMyLittleGirls · 28/05/2019 18:44

Thank you both!
I quite like Lucie as PP suggested but not keen on Molly and Lucie both ending in an “ee” sound, I want the girls to not have too matchy names!
@Estellastar Thankyou, I like Hazel too and I think I’m warming up to it Smile I have considered the drug association but I’ve wanted to use Molly forever and DH has finally agreed so I’m sticking with it haha!

Honestly, Lilah and Bella may have similar ending but they have a very different rhythm... If you love those names stick with them.

Bella has those two l's that mark the emphasis, while Lilah has this soaring "i".

Would you feel better about this if you spelt Lilah differently ? Leyla and Bella. Really not that similar. Leilah.

Or else how about Shiloh ?

Molly and Lucie don't sound similar enough for the ending to make them samey or matchy.

I have to say I like both Hazel and Lucie a LOT better than Lilah. Hazel would be my favourite.

diddlediddle · 28/05/2019 19:43

Lila is much nicer than lilah, which seems unnecessarily awkwardly. I think it also looks nicer with Molly, which is quite a pretty simple name. Lila is simple and pretty where Lilah is going to be misspelled all the time. I don't think Lila and Bella are too similar.

afterashowerr · 28/05/2019 19:52

I have a Molly and an Alice, Hazel gets my vote.

Nutkin123 · 28/05/2019 20:38

I love the name Hazel (biased as it is my name haha) my sister is called Lucy and I think (again biased) that they go lovely together!

manicinsomniac · 28/05/2019 22:23

I think Lilah and Bella are fine together (agree that Lila looks nicer written down) Are you going for 'Lee-luh' or 'Lye-luh'? I think the second is further away from Bella and could also be written Lyla.

On similar lines:
Luna, Lola, Lyra, Lara, Lana, Nyla, Nala, Nola, Orla, Clara, Carla, Cora, Dana, Kyra, Kyla, Rosa, Sara, Tara, Zara

Popskipiekin · 28/05/2019 22:27

I had a friend whose middle names (amongst others, she had loads of names!) were Molly and Rose.
For some reason Jemima comes to mind.
Carrie. Sophie.

Lucia instead of Lucie?

ElfishBiatch · 28/05/2019 23:38

If you go for Hazel then all 4 names will end in a different sound and start with a different letter. Which is apparently some sort of holy grail for naming siblings!

Chocmallows · 28/05/2019 23:40

I prefer Leila or Lara with Molly.

OhhMyLittleGirls · 29/05/2019 09:40

thank you everyone :)
I quite like Molly and Hazel for twins, also I like Hazel and Lucie. Lilah would be said lie-la, and for some reason I don’t particularly like the look of Lila!
Thank you for the suggestions, there are some good ones!

Can you try calling "Lilah" and see if Bella responds? Then you'll know if they sound too similar Smile.

I like Molly. Also love Hazel and like Lucie too.

Alice, Bella, Hazel and Lucie sound lovely together.

Sessy19 · 29/05/2019 14:10

Hazel is always being suggested on MN, I think of it as old fashioned and dusty...like coffee-breath!!! 😩🥴

Especially with really pretty and feminine names like Bella and Molly ☹️

Lilah is much more fitting, IMO. I do prefer Lila as a spelling, but that’s by-the-by....

OhhMyLittleGirls · 29/05/2019 14:28

@Clubbercised this is a good idea, but when I called "Lilah!" both Bella AND Alice turned around at looked at me like I was crazy...Grin

Oh well. Bang goes that theory!

How about Delilah instead of Lilah? You could shorten to something else, like Dee maybe?
