Elara, Alara, Elaria or Zahara

What are people’s thoughts? Elder siblings are Rafael and Sofia. Please just say what you prefer not if you hate one of them! Elara, Alara and Elaria names would probably use Lara as a nickname (but we wanted to use a longer form version for the name register)

I like Elara best. My least favourite is probably Zahara. It’s still a lovely name but I prefer the others.

Littlepond · 27/05/2019 15:43

Elara.

CalamityJess · 27/05/2019 17:41

Zahara

bridgetreilly · 27/05/2019 17:43

I don't hugely like any of them, and they don't sound to me like they fit very well with Rafael and Sofia. I would just call her Lara, which is a perfectly good name in its own right.

greathat · 27/05/2019 17:44

Zahara sounds like Sahara gone wrong so not that

Sophronia · 27/05/2019 17:53

Just Lara. Or Larissa / Larisa if you want a longer name for the birth certificate.

ClaraMatilda · 27/05/2019 17:54

I think I like Elara best.

There's an alien character called Alara in the sci-fi TV show 'The Orville' - she's a nice character, so there aren't negative connotations there, but it's something to be aware of if that would bother you!

GlitterPixie · 27/05/2019 18:00

Elara

Lilacks · 27/05/2019 18:01

What about Ilaria?

PinaColadaPlease · 27/05/2019 18:05

Elara out of your choices but prefer Lara or Elana.

Zahara sounds like a car.

mothertobe789 · 27/05/2019 18:06

Elara

cptartapp · 27/05/2019 18:17

Family member has just used Elara. I prefer Cara or Lara. None of the others.

MikeUniformMike · 27/05/2019 18:36

Ilaria is nicer. it's italian for Hilary.

Teddybearhunter · 27/05/2019 18:43

The last one sounds like malaria ? Unless I’m pronouncing it badly?

Tbh I’ve not heard of any of them I don’t think. They’re all quite flowy / pretty - I’m not sure which I’d go for - maybe Zahara as it seems quite cool

GinUnicorn · 27/05/2019 18:45

Elaria.

I also really like Ilaria.

redstapler · 27/05/2019 18:46

Did you make them all up?!

Teddybearhunter · 27/05/2019 18:46

Others you might like: Clara / Larissa / Laurel / Leonora / Zara

OhhMyLittleGirls · 27/05/2019 18:51

I like Elara or Alara best, maybe I slightly prefer Alara (although that may be biased because its similar to Alena, a name I love but DH won’t agree to :( )

BikeRunSki · 27/05/2019 18:53

I like Zahara best, but I like them all

Kanga83 · 27/05/2019 18:55

Non of them go with a Rafael and Sofia. At a push I'd say Alara sounds the best in terms of sounding like a name. If it's Lara you like why not just use that? It's fits nicely with the other names and is timeless, or Clara or Larissa (Lara is the diminutive version of it in Eastern Europe),

Malyshek · 27/05/2019 19:36

I like Alara (or Alanna).

Zahara is okay though I think I prefer Zahra.

Peachbubble · 27/05/2019 19:38

Really like Elara

DameSylvieKrin · 27/05/2019 19:39

Reminded me of the name Eleri

NannyR · 27/05/2019 19:44

I would just use Lara if that's the name you are going to use day to day. It works as a stand alone name and sounds great with your other children's names. The other names seem to me that they could provoke spelling/pronunciation issues.

aibutohavethisusername · 27/05/2019 20:28

Elara
