Harley and Jayden are not that unusual. Bailey reminds me of the alcoholic drink as somebody I knew about 20 years ago named her son Bailey because the drink was her favorite. OK she was kidding (I hope!) but still it reminds me of it.

Phoenix would get my vote from your list but I wouldn't use any of them.

There will be some fairly strident views on here.

Barbarafromblackpool · 27/05/2019 13:51

I wouldn’t say those names are unusual...
I would go for Harley out of those.

From that list, Phoenix

Some are really not unusual (then again, neither is Jaxon/Jackson), and I'd go for Carlo or Denzil as runner up choices

IggyAce · 27/05/2019 14:05

I know a Jaxon his siblings are Jenson and Preston.
Your list isn’t that unusual, from your list I’ve never met a Denzil or a Carlo.
How about: Ezekiel (nn zeke), Oswald, Rocco.

I like Phoenix from your list.

Also like Jayden but it's really not that unusual, imo, so if originality is important to you I'd skip it.

Lycander (from greek, means man-wolf)
Rüzgar (wind, a common name in turkey)
Kubilay (turkey again)
Ender (turkey)
Tycho (scandinavian usage, though greek origin)
Martel (little hammer in french)
Enguerrand (medieval french)
Arsène (French, also used in Russia)
Horatio
Justinien
Marius (roman general)

taylorlynn · 27/05/2019 19:26

I love Harley & Carlo. McKenzie makes me think of the sports brand or the guy from blazin squad! I prefer Bailey as a girls name but I know it is unisex. What about Blake or Parker or Preston

FizzyGreenWater · 27/05/2019 19:31

Iggy

Zeke

Like Phoenix

Like Sonny

NameChangedNoImagination · 27/05/2019 19:35

Love Denzil

JeantheHipster · 27/05/2019 20:22

I have nothing better to do, so below is the ranking and actual number of babies born in England and Wales 2017 with these names. So if you want unusual you should pick Denzil as there will have been no more than 3 named that year (the stats don't record the name of fewer than 3 registered babies).

Phoenix - 219th (243)
Harley - 53rd (1246)
Carlo - 1068th (27)
Bailey - 162nd (351)
Jayden - 71st (900)
Denzil - 0!
McKenzie - 613th (59)

You should also pay attention to that Phoenix, Harley, Bailey and McKenzie also have females registered with those names so that's even more children with your preferred names.

Then you need to take into account different spellings but the same pronunciation such as Mackenzie, Bayley, Harleigh, Jayden amongst others etc.

Sonny was the 114th (555).

What about Tyrone? There was only 18 born.

(If you're in Scotland/NI then there will be differences in the stats but it's unlikely to be significantly different).

Tillygetsit · 27/05/2019 22:55

Simmsie1 · 28/05/2019 16:45

My friend is 37 weeks pregnant with a Rainbow baby boy and they are calling him Brody, there also is:
Felix
Arthur
Jasper
(Sorry I’m not the best with boys names)

Hobbesmanc · 28/05/2019 16:55

I think some of those will date quite fast- Harley and Jayden for example and Bailey is a really common dog's name.

What about something old fashioned but not yet mainstream again like Edgar or Edmund. I like Audric and Jerrold too- very Medieval warrior. I also came across Blythe and Garrett which I love

Mayataylor · 04/06/2019 17:18

Hiya all,
Sorry for being non responsive since I last replied long story short I've been having some really bad pains so I got taken up to the hospital Monday and I had to have a c section which was yesterday

I now have a healthy baby boy weighing 5lb 10 oz and no name
