Sister name for Nella

Hi everyone! My two year olds name is Nella, which we love, but it’s very unique and making it difficult to find a name to go with it! I don’t want a weird name for the baby, but also don’t want Nellas name to seem out of place or made up. My favorite option is Lena Rose (rose as middle), we also like violet, Lucy, and Sadie but I’m finding them fairly common with Nellas name.

Thoughts on the options? Any other suggestions?? Thanks everyone!

I should specify that Lena would be pronounced lee-nah!

Lena or Violet from your list, both are lovely. Suggestions: Iris, Skye, Willow, Beau, Wren.

Clea ( pronounced Cle-ah).

The name Clea is of Greek origin and means "To Praise, Acclaim."

I like Lena and Lucy from your list. What about Scarlett?

Lena is gorgeous - my DD1's middle name, as it was my GM's middle name, love it!

Cassia, Flora, June?

I wouldn't use Lena because it's basically the same letters!

I’ve gotten that a lot, I’m unsure how big of a deal it is. I think they compliment each other and still sound different but some people can barely say the two names together. It’s the biggest issue for sure.

Mara.

Ou love Clea! That’s definitely the type of name I’m going for but my last name starts with a c and I think it sounds funny together sadly.

I like all of your names and think they would all go with Nella. Happy times with two little girls.

diddlediddle · 23/05/2019 03:22

I think the more usual pronounciation of Lena (Lay-na) sounds better with Nella.

Also, everyone has the middle name rose at the moment, it kind of ruins your plan to choose an unusual name - could you choose another flower name like violet?

Personally I love Sadie and think it goes really well with Nella. Similar vibe and avoids the anagram issue. I don't think Sadie is a common name. Sadie Violet is lovely.

Violet is lovely with Nella in my opinion, as is someone else's suggestion of Thea. I also love Iris, Edie, Pearl, Lyra, Dree, Bronte, Willa, Ophelia, Chiara, Maeve, Alba, Dahlia and Aida with Nella.

I know a couple of Nellas. There’s the children’s cartoon Nella the Princess Knight which has maybe raised its popularity. They have sisters called Rita and Josie - both short for longer names. Lena is nice but it does look like an anagram. Jodie? Io? Zandra? But Sadie is fine. How about Zadie?
