India or Claudia?

Title is pretty much self explanatory- we're having a little girl at the end of September and there's only ever been two contenders for a girl's name. We both like both names completely equally and can't pick between them.

So which do you prefer? I'm worried about it being trendy but India seems a bit cooler...and I'm about as edgy as a beach ball so she'll need all the help she can get in that arena.

Her last name will be double barrelled, so whilst I love Claudia it might be a bit telegraph birth announcement-y. Middle name will be Elizabeth.

Thanks in advance!

I like India Elizabeth the best

EssentialHummus · 19/05/2019 13:27

India.

whitehalleve · 19/05/2019 13:28

I prefer Claudia.

Tinkety · 19/05/2019 13:34

Claudia means “lame one” I think, not sure if that may influence your decision.

YesimstillwatchingNetflix · 19/05/2019 13:38

Have you been to India or does it have some kind of significance to you?

I like Claudia better. Claudia Elizabeth is really elegant and timeless. She's also less likely to be in a class with multiple Claudias than she is India/Indy/Indianas.

BlueMerchant · 19/05/2019 13:40

Claudia Elizabeth. Unless India has some significance. If I'm honest I think it's just a bit of a no naming babies after places if you've never been or have any plans to go. Sorry.
I love Dakota for a girl but the fact I've never actually been to Dakota would put me off ( if that makes sense Grin)

Propertywoes · 19/05/2019 13:41

Claudia is gorgeous.

lostlobster · 19/05/2019 13:42

I think India is beautiful

OldAndWornOut · 19/05/2019 13:42

Claudia is lovely.
India is almost as lovely.

klendraa · 19/05/2019 13:42

Claudia.

India is pretty but naming kids after places is a over done now. Plus, I find that Indian people find it funny when (tends to be white kids”) non-Indians are named after their country Grin

Whoops75 · 19/05/2019 13:43

Claudia

YahBasic · 19/05/2019 13:43

I adore Indie as a nickname so would lean toward that.

schnubbins · 19/05/2019 13:47

Claudia without a doubt.Lovely when she is older too.

Pinkprincess1978 · 19/05/2019 13:50

Claudia is lovely. I'm not fond of children named after places. It's a bit naff imo. Each to their own though.

Claudia Elizabeth is a beautiful name, classic and timeless.

I had an India, I love it.

I find it a bit clumsy with Elizabeth. How about Indira Elizabeth instead?

TroysMammy · 19/05/2019 14:03

Claudia, definitely.

tobee · 19/05/2019 14:04

I have a Claudia. Still love it.

We had a choice of two too op. Looked at her and thought "she looks like a Claudia". Maybe you could choose when you see her? Smile

MillicentMartha · 19/05/2019 14:06

Claudia for me. Timeless and classic while India seems a different style of name, more trendy and hippyish.

sue51 · 19/05/2019 14:08

Claudia is lovely. There have been a spate of Indias recently so not as edgy as you would wish.

RuthW · 19/05/2019 14:15

Borh lovely

EngagedAgain · 19/05/2019 14:16

I prefer Claudia, although India is still a good choice, but as far as which one goes best with middle name and double barrelled surname, there's no difference. I would as pp said, wait until she arrives, and expect it will come naturally.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/05/2019 14:18

India

But Claudia is lovely too.

EleanorReally · 19/05/2019 14:21

india is a bit hippyish to me too
but choose once she is here op

Normandy144 · 19/05/2019 14:22

I have a Claudia but i did also like India, however DH did not. Neither of us have been to India or have connections to the country so he wasn't keen.

I just think Claudia is a gorgeous name, but i appreciate i am biased. I think there is one other in her school and that's it, so popularity wise it is not common. I think some are put off the meaning of the name, but personally i don't care as i don't honestly think other people do either.
