India or Claudia?

Title is pretty much self explanatory- we're having a little girl at the end of September and there's only ever been two contenders for a girl's name. We both like both names completely equally and can't pick between them.

So which do you prefer? I'm worried about it being trendy but India seems a bit cooler...and I'm about as edgy as a beach ball so she'll need all the help she can get in that arena.

Her last name will be double barrelled, so whilst I love Claudia it might be a bit telegraph birth announcement-y. Middle name will be Elizabeth.

Thanks in advance!

India without a doubt. I dislike the unclear pronunciation of Claudia; both bad, either CLAWdia or Cloudier. Nn Claw or Cloud-not nice!

Thanks everyone! HerRoyalNotness I LOVE Indira, but DH has previously vetoed on the basis that it will be a bit 'out there' and exotic for NI....I could still be convinced though.

Interesting that so many people think it's a no-no using a place name unless there's a particular significance. We view India in the same way as Florence, a name in its own right. But thanks to those posters as if we did go for it it's good to be aware of the not-insignificant potential for those questions or comments.

I was of a "choose once she's here"-mind, but DSis has taken to referring to the baby as Clindia. If we still can't decide it may actually become a contender (I'm joking)

Claudia definitely. India - no way. Unless you actually are Indian.

daisypond · 19/05/2019 14:30

I don't think India is cool either - quite the opposite!

claudia12345 · 19/05/2019 15:29

NC to say my name is Claudia, I loved it as a child. I was happy to be the only one. It's different enough that I never met another Claudia until I was 18! But not so different that it sounds made up or stands out too much.
And now I'm an adult I still love my name, people compliment me on it often and I still appreciate that it's not too common.

Grasspigeons · 19/05/2019 15:30

Claudia

Watersnail · 19/05/2019 15:31

I prefer Claudia.

Normandy144 · 19/05/2019 16:00

@Claudia12345 that's good to hear. My Claudia is 6 and hasn't really said she doesn't like it, but hasn't said she loves it either. I'm hoping she will appreciate it when she's older. Although she does sometimes ask me why i didn't call her Rosie, which seems to be her go-to dolls name.

CloserIAm2Fine · 19/05/2019 16:22

I love Claudia

Proseccofuelled · 19/05/2019 16:45

Claudia is a lovely name - I don’t really
like India

taylorlynn · 19/05/2019 17:07

Love Claudia

PurpleCrowbar · 19/05/2019 17:32

You could go with Inaudia (ble) as an alternative to Clindia, & hope she doesn't cry too much Grin.

I'm voting Claudia, but that's because I'm a goth, to be fair. Both nice!

Moondancer73 · 19/05/2019 18:01

I love Claudia, very pretty

Clownfish123 · 19/05/2019 18:09

Prefer India. Can't get past the meaning of Claudia.

outvoid · 19/05/2019 18:42

Claudia

RomanyQueen1 · 19/05/2019 18:44

I prefer Claudia, but do look at the meaning in case it would bother you.

SomethingAboutNothing · 19/05/2019 18:59

Both are lovely but Claudia would be my choice. Timeless and elegant.

Rystall · 19/05/2019 19:00

Claudia is a beautiful, classy name. India is the polar opposite to me.

Sophronia · 19/05/2019 23:36

Definitely Claudia.

CarolinaChina · 19/05/2019 23:39

Claudia Elizabeth - classic. Love it.

DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2019 23:49

Claudia, definitely. It's not one of my favourite names but I consider it elegant & classy. Whereas India just... well, it isn't either of those.

Astronica · 20/05/2019 16:28

I much prefer Claudia - great name. The original meaning (lame) is a problem to some people, but if I used it then I would see the meaning as something like 'overcoming adversity'.

Fulltimemummy85 · 20/05/2019 17:11

Not fond of India Elizabeth together, love Claudia Elizabeth. It sounds very elegant!

Crazyeyes3 · 20/05/2019 17:42

Claudia. Beautiful name

Nocturnalpearl · 20/05/2019 18:19

I have a two week old Claudia! Gets my vote!
