I'm 8 weeks with baby #2.

Looking for opinions on my ideas so far and other suggestions too.
I'm going to try not to fixate on it too much until we know gender but probably first of many threads.

Ideas so far:

Girls-
Andi/Andie
Effie/Effy
Farrah
Hazel
Jovie
Peppa (think the pig has ruled this out for me!)
Quinn
Saffy

Boys-
Atlas
Eden
Emrys
Jesse

I like Atlas.
Eden is a girls name, is it not.
Jesse Don't like it.
Emrys. See Jesse.

Andi/Andie. Okay as nn for Andrea, but. I'm not over Kean
Effy. Horrible.
Farrah. Love this
Hazel. I appreciate its a beautiful name, but I don't like it.
Jovie. Love this.
Peppa. I'd probably like it if it wasn't for Peppa pig, but I wouldn't risk it.Although the name Thomas hasnt been ruined by Thomas and friends.
Quinn. Its okay.
Saffy. No

Destinationunknown1 · 17/05/2019 17:16

We definitely don't have the same taste in names as I am sorry to say I dislike all of them. But you wouldn't like my names :)

Eden I believe is a girls name as I've only taught girls called Eden.

sparklysunflower · 17/05/2019 17:19

I only like

Hazel (girl)

Quentin/Quinn (boy)

Chocmallows · 17/05/2019 17:19

I thought Quinn was a boys name and Eden and Jessie girls names?

I like these names that way around, not keen on others.

Calixtine · 17/05/2019 17:19

I like Hazel, Quinn and all of your boy names except Atlas.

sparklysunflower · 17/05/2019 17:21

I only know boy Quinns.

Jesse is a boys name but it sounds like Jessie, short for Jessica

MikeUniformMike · 17/05/2019 17:22

Girls-
Andi/Andie - not keen
Effie/Effy - awful
Farrah - fine
Hazel - fine
Jovie - Jon Bon?
Peppa (think the pig has ruled this out for me!) - nuff said
Quinn - Quim
Saffy - Saffron?

Boys-
Atlas - quite a name to live up to
Eden - unisex name, likely to be girls with the name in his peer group
Emrys - fine
Jesse - no.

Divgirl2 · 17/05/2019 18:50

I used to have a friend who was nicknamed Atlas, because he always looked like he had the world on his shoulders.

Andie - reminds me of the one that ruined Four Weddings
Effie - only ever heard as a shortening (Stephanie)
Farrah - makes me think of Mo, not Fawcett
Hazel - never met one I didn't like, love this name
Jovie, Peppa, Quinn and Saffy I really dislike, although Saffy the Staffie would be cute.

Boys - I like Emrys best (although my phone autocorrected it to enemy's). Atlas is the kind of name someone would name their prize bull, Eden is too feminine (I know three and they're all girls), Jesse is okay, although in Scotland/the north "you big Jessie" means a weak or effeminate man.

BuffySummerss · 17/05/2019 19:32

The only girls name from your list I like is Hazel.
I love all the boys names, they were all on my list! Except Jesse. Atlas or Emrys are my favs

Chocolateisoverrated · 17/05/2019 19:34

I only like Hazel and Atlas

MiniMileyMoo · 17/05/2019 19:38

I like Hazel and Atlas.

I also love Clover for a girl, which is a similar style I think!

TildaTurnip · 17/05/2019 19:43

We have complete opposite tastes in names but:
Andi- Four Weddings association for me
Effie/Effy-sounds sweary
Farrah-OK
Hazel-nicest
Jovie-No
Peppa-Oink
Quinn-Looks like Quim
Saffy-If short for something then maybe

Boys-
Atlas-ok but definitely a name eyebrows will twitch at
Eden-only know girls called this
Emrys-No
Jesse-No

daisypond · 17/05/2019 20:14

Andi/Andie. Only if short for Andrea.
Effie. Bland. Ok if short for Euphemia.
Farrah. Ok.
Hazel. Ok but dull.
Jovie? Never heard of this. Is it short for something? Jodie or josie short for Josephine.
Peppa is a pig
Quinn- quim
Saffy ok if short for Saffron not a name itself

Boys-
Atlas. Too much to live up to.
Eden. Ok.
Emrys. Ok
Jesse. Ok but dated.

NuffSaidSam · 17/05/2019 20:26

Andi, Effie and Saffy are all nice, cutsey nn, but need a full name too.

Farrah (Fara) is a chain of charity shops.

Hazel is a lovely, underused classic name.... completely different to all the others on your list.

Jovie - too much like juvie!

Peppa - let's not be silly!!

Quinn - it's ok

Atlas - no and rule out Globe, Map and Compass too.

Eden - is normally a girls name

Emrys - I've never heard this before, where does it come from?

Jesse - I'm not keen

Watersnail · 17/05/2019 21:01

I like Hazel, Saffy and Emrys. Pippa instead of Peppa.

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 17/05/2019 21:08

I like Hazel and I sort of like Emrys. The rest, sorry, no. The girls' names are particularly dreadful.

BlackPrism · 17/05/2019 21:10

I knew a Jovie once, she married her first Cousin so could never use the name sadly

shhhbabysleeping · 17/05/2019 21:27

So many of your names are on my shortlist!
I love Farrah and Hazel. Also Quinn (for a girl, I only know female Quinns). Jovie I hadn't considered but I like it. Effie is ok. Not keen on the other girls suggestions though.

Jesse and Emrys are on our boys list. Eden I love for a girl, but definitely not for a boy. Its a very feminine sounding name. Atlas i like as well.

I also love Ellis for a boy. But it doesn't go that well with our surname

Proseccofuelled · 17/05/2019 21:29

Girls-
Andi - awful
Effie/Effy - awful - better as a nickname for Josephine or Persephone or something
Farrah - just horrendous
Hazel - love
Jovie - awful
Peppa - don’t name your daughter after a pig
Quinn - no
Saffy - no

Boys-
Atlas - awful
Eden - the girls name ??)
Emrys - awful
Jesse - awful but less awful

Sorry for my honesty - I am of course a random nobody on the Internet & you’d probably hate all my names too

Prettylittlelady · 17/05/2019 21:33

Just came to say to OP - I know of a little boy called Eden and it really suits him and I don’t think he has ever had anyone said ‘it’s a girls name’ I think it’s very unisex.

Proseccofuelled · 17/05/2019 21:34

Suggestions
Hazel - definitely keep this it’s lovely
Poppy or Pippa for Philippa instead of Peppa Pig
Phaedra - I don’t like this but it’s better than Ferra or whatever it was
Adriana is better than Andy

Boys
Emmett perhaps ?
Josiah

Shadow1234 · 17/05/2019 22:13

I think Quinn suits a boy better and Eden suits a girl. (but that's just my preference as I know that both names have been used for girls and boys.

Quinn and Jesse are my favourite for boys
Eden my favourite for a girl

None of the others are to my taste i'm afraid.

Tillygetsit · 17/05/2019 23:58

Hazel and Emrys are two of my favourite names. Both gorgeous.

Icklepup · 18/05/2019 09:20

Quinn is nicer on a boy and Eden a girl.
I love Atlas but it seems very much disliked.
I'd say Jesse or Hazel

SnowyAlpsandPeaks · 18/05/2019 15:33

Eden- yes for a girl
