What could Annie be short for?

How creative can we get?

I like Annie and can think of Ann, Annabelle for a name that Annie can be a diminutive of... any others? I'm also very willing to use Annie as a birth certificate name but I'm curious to alternatives

:)

It doesn't need to be short for anything - I know 2 people who were christened 'Annie'... if you like that name, just use it Smile

Saisong · 16/05/2019 10:12

The Annie I know is an Andrea

However I think Annie is a gorgeous and acceptable name in its own right. It doesn't have to be short for any thing

bringbackfonzi · 16/05/2019 10:41

When I meet an Annie I assume their name is Anna.

MikeUniformMike · 16/05/2019 11:16

Angharad doesn't shorten to An. In Welsh ng is a letter not two letters, and is almost always prononunced as ng not ng-g.

Susiedog · 16/05/2019 11:35

I really like Lilianna or Rosanna.

I don't understand why you can't just call her Annie if you like Annie.

I know a few people who have one name in their BC but only ever called something else & it just makes life difficult on things like job applications, work email addresses etc.

Just call her what you're going to actually call her Confused

RuffleCrow · 16/05/2019 13:27

Good point Nquartz

Makes me think of thay Simpson's character whose "name must never be spoke" Grin

lilbubsmama · 16/05/2019 13:29

@Nquartz I said in my OP I'm
More than happy to call her Annie in her birth certificate- I am curious to other forms of the name to see what else I like if I already like Annie

We have an Albany which we shorten to Annie.
