(Pronounced Al- ess-ee-ah)
I like it but am concerned that people will not know how to say it and will constantly call her Alisha. Do you think the pronunciation will be a big problem?

I think its gorgeous. I knew how to say it when i looked at it and I don't think that I have seen the name written down before x

I loved this name and was going to use on my DD but when I told people it they thought I was mad. In the end I chose another name which was a shame really. You should definitely use it if you love it and not get peer pressured like me.

It's lovely. There shouldn't be any pronunciation issues as if you take two seconds to read the name it's obvious how it's pronounced....but I think it's inevitable she'll get called Alicia, Alesha, Alyssa etc from time to time. But then even the simplest of names can be mispronounced!

It's a lovely name but she will have a lifetime of correcting pronunciation. I have taught an Al-ess-ea
Al-ees-ea
Al-eesh-a
Al-iss-ea

Sorry posted too soon.

Not in the same class but over 20 years.

It's a gorgeous name and I would pronounce it the way you do. I don't see the problem.

MaLittleBubbas · 12/05/2019 14:14

Its nice but I would have said al-ess-yah. Alexia and Alexa are also lovely x

It's my niece's name, she's had no issues with pronunciation here in Australia.

I know how to say it properly from the way it's spelt. However I read an article once a out people mispronouncing names due to laziness when reading a name and the girl who wrote it was named Alessia. She said people never say it right. I've also seen threads on here about it also.

Love this name! My best friend for 24 years is called Alessia (A-less-ia). She does have some people that do not pronounce the name correctly but only a minority. Everyone comments on what a beautiful name it is. She shortens it to "less/ lessi"
