Too much? Usable as a middle name? As a first name?

Beautiful name

Sparklysunflower · 09/05/2019 22:11

Lovely first name.

buckeejit · 09/05/2019 22:12

First name- love it, was on my shortlist

Still18atheart · 09/05/2019 22:13

I really like it. Nm Ginny. I like all most Aurthurian legend names tbh

AloneLonelyLoner · 09/05/2019 22:14

It's a totally beautiful name.

IrishMamaMia · 09/05/2019 22:15

It's very cool. Unusual and literary. Might add it to my own list. Genevieve is another name in that vein which is elegant too :)

lovemeorleaveme · 09/05/2019 22:16

Ooh, i really like it.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 09/05/2019 22:18

Bit much - a lot to live up to.

OldAndWornOut · 09/05/2019 22:20

Not at all keen.

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/05/2019 22:22

Lovely name. I knew someone years ago as Gwynne. Only discovered when I went to her wedding out she was actually a Guinevere.

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/05/2019 22:22

out = that

Blueemeraldagain · 09/05/2019 22:23

I like it but I really don’t like Gwen, which I’m pretty sure it would be shortened to.

DowntonCrabby · 09/05/2019 22:24

Love it!

Justlikedevon · 09/05/2019 22:25

Fab, but wouldn't want Gwyn as a nn as to me it's a Welsh bloke's name. Or Vera now I think of it.... Winnie?

TatianaLarina · 09/05/2019 22:25

Love, would have used it but it didn’t go with the surname. GFI.

TatianaLarina · 09/05/2019 22:26

I like it but I really don’t like Gwen

Guin not Gwen.

MercyBodle · 10/05/2019 04:39

Really lovely - use it as a first name. And it doesn't need to be shortened, but if so, Guin, Vere, Vivi are good.

Tavannach · 10/05/2019 04:45

Prefer Genevieve. Guinevere sounds a bit harsh.

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 10/05/2019 05:40

I like it but I really don’t like Gwen

Guin not Gwen

The Welsh version is Gwenhwyfar which would indeed given Gwen as a nickname. Like a pp says Gwyn is a man's name. So that could cause confusion.

I know of Gwenhwyfars - I live in a relatively Welsh-speaking part of the world-, all middle-aged or older. I don't know any Guineveres, somehow in English it seems a heavier name to carry IYSWIM?

Peachbubble · 10/05/2019 06:53

I like it

TatianaLarina · 10/05/2019 08:48

I know the Welsh version is Gwenhwyfar, but that’s not the one on offer.

I think if OP were in Wales, she’d be presenting the Welsh version. Outside of Wales, Guin isn’t an issue.

PlatypusLeague · 10/05/2019 09:01

Not keen TBH. The "vere" ending reminds me of "severe".

Calixtine · 10/05/2019 11:33

I like both Guin and Gwen, and Ginny is a family name so quite like that too Smile

Surprised to get such a positive response tbh, my DH pulled a Hmm face (but does quite like it)

First name. Why not?
