Nova for a girl, need help with middle name please x

I am 22 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. I originally set my heart ok Alice for a girl but I thought about it again and want to name her with meaning. I want to give her a name meaning of 'new beginning' because she is my new beginning. So I thought of the name 'Nova' which means new for her first name but can't find a middle name. Anyone have any ideas and what do people think of that name?

I think Nova is lovely. I'd probably for for a one syllable middle name.

Nova is also a star, lovely association for a name.

Hard to know what your name style is, just throwing some different names out there...

A Nova is a thing in its own right. Similar to a super nova it is an old star that suddenly grows very very bright, but instead of exploding it then stabilises with a new lease of life.

I think a one syllable middle name makes it sound quite blunt and harsh so something slightly longer would suit it. I also quite like the sound of a middle name starting with a vowel, sometimes two vowels next to each other can sometimes run together and sound a bit silly, but as Nova is quite a strong name it doesn't and adds a nice flow through the name.

For what it's worth, I think I would hate it if I was my mother's 'new beginning'. Your child is her own person, why do you want to define her by yourself?

To a large extent every baby bears the expectations of his or her parents, and also the image the parents have of themselves. I don't think Nova is any different.

The vauxhall Nova was called the Corsa in Europe (and eventually adopted here) as “No Va” means “won’t go” in several European languages.

Agree with brigitreilly that you have to be careful setting up some expectation within yourself (and with your daughter) that she will be ‘your’ new anything. She will be her own self, with all the autonomy of any human. Your job is to raise her to be independent of you, not an emotional safety net for yourself. Maybe that’s too harsh, but still something to think about.

I actually quite like the name Nova, otherwise, except it would be inadvisable on my continent, where it’s the name of a popular radio station! I think it would go best (rhythm wise) with a one-syllable middle name.

I just love the name even though I know it can have some connotations

I'm not trying to make her my 'new beginning'
I just want her name to be special and with meaning. She is her own person but I've not had an easy time lately and she's a new happy joy for me and my children
