What about Livinia

Not a typo! I like the sound of the name Lavinia but I hate the fact that she might be called Lav as a nickname. Livinia is the Spanish spelling and I think much nicer (I also love the nickname Liv).

Thoughts? Is it a bit of a mean-girl-from-an-old-novel name?

Also, would you pronounce it like Liv-in-nee-uh or -liv-in-yuh?

Lavinia looks so much nicer.
And yeah for some reason to me, it does make me think of a mean girl haha!

MarthasGinYard · 04/05/2019 14:11

Like Lavinia

Dancer12345 · 04/05/2019 14:12

I love either spelling! I have a relative generations-back with that name. See what you mean about being shortened to Lab though - I think Livinia is fine and like it being shortened to Liv.

Usuallyinthemiddle · 04/05/2019 14:14

The only Lavinia I know goes by Nina.

To my eye, Livinia looks mis-spelt. Like Shinaid in my primary school class Grin

AnnaComnena · 04/05/2019 14:16

I quite like it, I like it better than Lavinia. But I think you and she will often see it spelled wrongly and spend a lot of time correcting people who think it's Lavinia, because they've never heard of the name Livinia.

MikeUniformMike · 04/05/2019 14:18

Lavinia is better and you could shorten it ti Liv or Vinny.
Livinia looks like a typo.

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 04/05/2019 14:33

I think as long as it's a correct spelling in one language or another then it's fine personally! Liv is a nice nickname, like you said nicer than Lav

florascotia2 · 04/05/2019 14:37

OP most baby name sites are terribly unreliable. Livinia is not the Spanish version of Lavinia. According to the Spanish Office of National Statistics, "There are no inhabitants with the name consulted or they number less than 20 per national total". There are, however, 484 women and girls with the name Lavinia living in Spain .

Livia is the Italian for Olivia - that might work? I much prefer Lavinia to Livinia.

Whoops75 · 04/05/2019 14:43

What about Lydia?

DramaAlpaca · 04/05/2019 14:45

I prefer it to Lavinia, but like Livia more than either of them.

PissOffPeppa · 04/05/2019 15:16

I might be wrong but I think the mean girl in A Little Princess is called Lavinia, so that might be where that perception’s come from.

I think it sounds nice but I can’t get past the mean girl thing and the “Lav” nickname. But then Livinia does look like a typo

MiniMaxi · 04/05/2019 15:18

I came on to suggest Livia too!

Don't mind Livinia, tbh. People are called all sorts and Lavinia isn't that commonly used anyway.

Wheresmyvagina · 04/05/2019 15:19

It looks like you can't spell. Not a good look.

Cbeebiesrehab · 05/05/2019 11:30

I know a Lavinia, she goes by Livi

Bumblebeesmum · 05/05/2019 11:35

Awful name with a misspelling is just how it looks to me & reminds me of the word lavatory

PlatypusLeague · 05/05/2019 12:09

The Lav nickname puts me off, even with the Livinia spelling - it just says"I wanted to avoid Lav" so you think of it anyway IYSWIM.

How about Vinia on its own?

Vivienne
Alicia
Zinnia

Livia or Liviana are Italian names, both nice.

DieselSucker · 11/05/2019 14:29

Never heard and not keen. Livia is much nicer imo.

Pegaroo · 11/05/2019 18:41

Lavinia is lovely...not so keen on Livinia

puma84 · 11/05/2019 18:53

My daughters name is Laviska. So sort of similar with lav at the beginning. Her names never been shortened to lav ever and she's 14.

I prefer Lavinia to Livina.

MercyBodle · 12/05/2019 08:59

I don't like either Livinia or Lavinia, and I don't think of lavatory.
