Try hard and dated sorry

MercyBodle · 04/05/2019 13:08

Sorry, I don't like it at all.

cece · 04/05/2019 13:19

I wouldn't know how to say it. Body? Bowdee? Bowie?

My first thought was Buddhist.

ScarlettDarling · 04/05/2019 13:22

I know one Bodhi, reception class age. TBH I wasn't keen on the name at first but he is so utterly delightful that I now think it's lovely!

Can't imagine anyone making stupid jokes or nicknames like bogie...kids are just so accepting of names these days.

BlueMerchant · 04/05/2019 13:24

Awful. Really Awful.

Rosesaredead · 04/05/2019 13:34

It's a bit of a naff celeb baby name in my opinion - popular with reality stars

Whoops75 · 04/05/2019 13:42

He needs to be blonde and into surfing
Cute until he’s 13 then not so much

Prefer it as a nn

Wonkydonkey44 · 04/05/2019 13:49

Awful sorry

Hereshopingforimprovement · 04/05/2019 13:50

New age/surfer/hippy. Not a fan.

MarIsFiuLiomE · 04/05/2019 13:51

kind of weird. What's its etymology ?

BertieBotts · 04/05/2019 13:53

I don't know how to pronounce it. My first assumption was like body - but seeing the replies I guess not.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 04/05/2019 13:53

Brodie (Scots)/ Brody (US) is nicer. I prefer the Scottish spelling (yes I know it’s a surname) over the US but that’s just me.

MikeUniformMike · 04/05/2019 13:54

I don't like it.

DetectiveSantiago · 04/05/2019 13:56

Not a fan but I don't think I'd worry about bullying. Kids can be cruel but, as pp said, children do seem to be far more accepting of names these days.

Lovely name. Makes me think of Point Break and Patrick Swayze!
Alternative spelling is Bode.

florascotia2 · 04/05/2019 14:44

To the the PP who asked, it's Sanskrit and means 'enlightenment' or 'awakening', spiritually speaking. The Buddha meditated under a sacred bodhi tree.
The same concept is also symbolised by the lotus flower.

ShowOfHands · 04/05/2019 14:46

If children are cruel then that needs challenging. A child cruel enough to bully will bully regardless. The answer is not to change a child's name but to teach the bully to know better.

I love Bodhi.

AuntieStella · 04/05/2019 14:46

If Buddhist, a good choice.

Sessy19 · 04/05/2019 16:26

I think it’s a really lovely name, with a lovely meaning.

missmouse101 · 04/05/2019 16:53

Can the OP confirm how it's pronounced please?

NameChangedNoImagination · 04/05/2019 16:58

Awful.
Culturally appropriative.
Try-hard.
Just awful.

From someone who adores unusual and slightly pretentious names usually.

agirlhasnonameX · 04/05/2019 17:01

Don't normally post on this topic but absolutely love this name, gorgeous and so unusual.
I can't stand plain, normal, three a class names though, if your worried about being different maybe not.
Love it.

Narya · 04/05/2019 17:02

Only ever seen it on MN. Personally not a fan.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 04/05/2019 17:02

I love Point Break but I don't think I'd use the name in real life.
