Rosy, Edward not particularly popular amongst the children where I live, however Lots of people calling their boy Jude. Things are different geographically.

Baylis · 04/05/2019 19:49

Edward.

I know a Judy and a Judith and both women go by "Jude" as a nickname which would put me off using that name for a boy.

Shadow1234 · 04/05/2019 20:22

Jude

abcriskringle · 04/05/2019 20:23

Edward

ElloBrian · 04/05/2019 20:25

Absolutely not Jude in any way ever.

ozymandiusking · 04/05/2019 20:25

Edward (Teddy)

ElloBrian · 04/05/2019 20:26

Presumably you are not a Thomas Hardy fan OP.

AliciaMayEmory · 04/05/2019 20:27

I absolutely LOVE the name Jude. Wish I'd thought of it for DS as it would really suit him!
Edward is lovely too, and there are also the nn options that Jude doesn't have. But I'd definitely choose Jude if it were my choice.

Still18atheart · 04/05/2019 20:28

Edward every time. I like the nm which can be used

Shockers · 04/05/2019 20:28

Jude for me!

newtlover · 04/05/2019 20:31

have a quick glance at Jude the Obscure before you decide

TrumpsFerret · 04/05/2019 20:45

That's really tough, love them. I think Jude is perhaps more common now though. Edward is a bit more upper class to me, depending on whether you care about that!

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 04/05/2019 20:50

I like Ted short for Edward but I think ed/eddie/edward are just too grown up and old man ish for a first name. I really like jude.

So I would go Jude, or Ted as a permanent nn for Edward. Edward Jude has a nice flow but again I would use the nn Ted.

Sorry I'm rambling 😂

Livpool · 04/05/2019 20:52

My DS is Jude so obviously that gets my vote

Juanaiguana · 04/05/2019 21:00

Edward

Anytime · 04/05/2019 23:31

LOVE Jude!

Edward good too though but sounds so much more serious!

MercyBodle · 05/05/2019 03:11

I love Edward (and lots of great nns), not a fan of Jude.

ZsaZsaMc · 05/05/2019 03:18

I love Jude but not sure as a family we could pull it off.

Edward was on our shortlist but i do know loads of Teds/Teddys if that sort of thing puts you off

CleopatraComingAtcha · 05/05/2019 03:21

Jude

Topseyt · 05/05/2019 03:36

Edward for me. Not keen on Jude.

Tavannach · 05/05/2019 03:45

I like them both.
If I was naming a son I'd choose Jude because it goes with the surname and it's more "us".

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 05/05/2019 04:23

I have a Jude. It’s a great name! And I have an Eng. Lit degree so obviously have read Jude the Obscure, twice actually. It didn’t put me off. My son hates ‘Hey Jude’ with a passion though!

Allthecolours · 05/05/2019 05:40

Edward. Maybe Ted for a nickname. How about Edmund?

Theoldwoman · 05/05/2019 05:45

Jude reminds me too much of Judith/Judy.

I vote Edward.

siglingor · 05/05/2019 07:01

Lots of other good Ed names too - Edgar, Edmund, Edbert, Edwin.
