I stupidly told a friend the name that I will be calling my daughter ...her name will be Lucinda....and he said it was awful and how could I call a baby a name that sounded like Lucifer.

I really like Lucinda and it feels right to me. I don't think of anything negative when I say it and I'm not looking for alternatives.

Just wondering if the general consensus is that Lucinda is a dreadful name??

I don't think its a dreadful name at all, and the only thing that comes to mind when i hear it is the good witch out of sophia the first....but that might be because i have 3 year old girls who are sophia obsessed...Grin

I don't think of Lucifer when I hear it.
I think it's a nice name. Classic and not too popular.

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 01/05/2019 18:41

I like it, the most dreadful thing I can think of, is that she'll be called Loo at school.

I really like Lucinda

JeantheHipster · 01/05/2019 18:43

I considered it for my dd. In the end it didn't go on our list as we didn't like any of the diminutives, and as a longer name it's likely to be shortened.

It's connected to Lucy, Lucia, Lucille and Lucien as well. They all mean "light" (Lucifer means light-bearer). Lucinda is a nice underused name. It might remind me of Lucy and perhaps Jennifer, but not Lucifer!

Arpafeelie · 01/05/2019 19:37

Lucinda is nothing like Lucifer! He is being ridiculous.

kenandbarbie · 01/05/2019 19:38

Lovely name!

MrsMozartMkII · 01/05/2019 19:39

Lovely name.

megrichardson · 01/05/2019 19:47

I like it.

AmethystRaven · 01/05/2019 19:53

I had a friend called Lucinda at school but she only ever answered to Luci. She was great, very strong minded, a bit quirky and fun so I like it by association (although I like it anyway) Smile

Pegaroo · 01/05/2019 20:34

Thank you folks...I was starting to second guess myself.

I shall keep my Lucinda happily xx

Jaz32 · 01/05/2019 20:39

I have a friend called Lucinda, she goes by Luce or Lucie. It also reminds me of Sofia the first 😂

Babyfoal · 01/05/2019 20:41

I know three Lucindas. It's a great name.

aibutohavethisusername · 01/05/2019 22:00

I’m afraid it isn’t a favourite of mine.

dontcallmelen · 01/05/2019 22:03

Lovely name & dont hear it much now, I know one who is about thirty & she is very sweet.

Smellslikemiddleagespirit · 01/05/2019 22:18

I think it's a great name.
I knew a Lucinda at university. She was confident and quirky, and usually known as Lulu.
