Imogen

Lllot5 · 29/04/2019 11:23

I like both but if it were me choosing I’d pick Imogen simply because my Mum’s cat is esme. From twilight films I think my niece named her.

Sophronia · 29/04/2019 14:18

Both very popular where I live. There are loads at the baby groups we go to. I’m not keen on either, but Esme if I had to pick.

IggyAce · 29/04/2019 14:20

Imogen but I’m biased. My dd doesn’t like Immy as a nn her friends call her Idgy.

Herland · 29/04/2019 14:25

There is an Imogen in every class where I live and lots be of them get called Imo. Which I don't like. Sounds like Emo.

SherlockSays · 29/04/2019 14:26

Imogen - Esme is far too popular.

BlueMerchant · 29/04/2019 14:27

Imogen

expatinspain · 29/04/2019 14:52

Esmé

Summerwalk · 29/04/2019 18:23

Very helpful feedback.
I'm surprised that they're so popular! Maybe too popular.
Could anyone suggest similar names?!

Imogen 💗

Redskyandrainbows67 · 29/04/2019 19:39

Mumsnet popular is just that some people know a few people called it! It’s very unlikely anyone named today even if called Amelia or Ella will be one of many in a class as names are generally more diverse.
Just go with the name you love and don’t worry about popularity...

ABitOTT · 29/04/2019 19:43

Esmé

Summerwalk · 29/04/2019 19:48

Redskyandrainbows67 very good point! My name is in the top 15, used to be in top 10 but I don't trip over other women/girls called my name!

Comes with the territory of nice names

Imogen.

TatianaLarina · 29/04/2019 19:53

Imogen hands down.

Esmé is ghastly.

beanaseireann · 29/04/2019 20:21

Esmè

CloserIAm2Fine · 29/04/2019 21:34

Imogen by far

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/04/2019 21:43

Depends on how you intend to pronounce it.
If it's Ez-may then Esme. If it's Esmee
then Imogen.

MollyHuaCha · 29/04/2019 22:12

I like them both.
The
I only like the Ez-mee pronunciation of Esme. And I prefer it spelt without the acute accent.

resipsa · 29/04/2019 22:22

Imogen - like PP said, don't be swayed by the 'too' popular comments. We named one Amelia as it became immensely popular but she is the only one in her school year and 1 of 2 in the whole school...

Redskyandrainbows67 · 29/04/2019 22:27

Amelia is a lovely name Smile

SallyOMalley · 29/04/2019 22:28

Imogen. But I'm biased!

BTW, there are only two in dd's year of 60 pupils. Apart from school, she's always been the only one in clubs or groups she's been a part of.

And her NN is Midge or Midgie (well at home at least!).

KateTTC123 · 30/04/2019 21:48

Imogen; that's what we are using for DD :)

tiramisu1 · 01/05/2019 12:49

Esmé

Smellslikemiddleagespirit · 01/05/2019 20:57

Anything other than Imogen, horrible sounding name and word, not feminine at all. Sounds like engine. Even worse than Megan
