I love the name Brody for a boy but am not sure if it is considered “chavvy”. What are your opinions?

I quite like it and don't think it's 'chavvy'. Remember that MN taste veers towards 'classic' names, both common and obscure, so Brody isn't going to win any popularity prizes here. Personally I'd pick it over Rupert any day of the week though.

NorthernRunner · 24/04/2019 15:42

I don’t think it sounds ‘chavvy’ Angry hate that word...but I don’t particularly like it. It sounds very American to me, and I don’t particularly like Cody/Brady/Brody type names

Dora26 · 24/04/2019 15:43

Brody is a surname in Ireland so just one more surname making it as a christian/first name - I quite like it

Wolfiefan · 24/04/2019 15:46

Does sound very American. If you’re not then I wouldn’t.

NabooThatsWho · 24/04/2019 15:48

I love it!

NotMyUsualTopBilling · 24/04/2019 15:48

It's a VERY popular name here in Scotland.

I know 15 under 8.

cleanasawhistle · 24/04/2019 15:49

I was at an Ice Rink in Scotland and a mother kept calling for her little boy to come back over....his name was Brody....I really like it

PinkieTuscadero · 24/04/2019 15:49

'Does sound very American. If you’re not then I wouldn’t.'

Why?

Tiredmum100 · 24/04/2019 15:50

I know of a Brody. Yes I think it does sound American but I do like it.

Bumsnet69 · 25/04/2019 13:01

It’s a girls’ name around here (central Scotland), know lots from aged from 3 to in their 30s. Always spelled Brodie though.

As a boys’ name it makes me think of Jason Lee in Mallrats.

MrsJDornan · 25/04/2019 13:05

I like it :)

Nonameyet1 · 25/04/2019 17:42

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 25/04/2019 17:47

Know a few Brodie’s I’m in Scotland as well. It was on the short list for dd (15) and glad we didn’t use it now because I know several and I live in a largeish village not a big town.

CammieKennaway · 25/04/2019 17:49

I think Brody is a lovely name.

AGoodWench · 25/04/2019 17:51
