Also, I can only imagine it being shortened to Essie. We have a Violet that some family members call Lettie. Are they two close to one and another?

Love the name Esther. I don't think the nicknames are too similar

Cookit · 24/04/2019 14:12

I like the name. I know an Esther (adult) and I’ve never heard the nickname Essie.

multivac · 24/04/2019 14:15

Adore Esther. I sometimes call the one I know 'Ess'. She's definitely not an 'Essie'...

Sophronia · 24/04/2019 14:33

Love it. I know one who shortens it to Esti.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 24/04/2019 14:38

Love it! I wanted to use it for a second daughter and use the nickname Tess. But I had boys!

LordoftheRinse · 24/04/2019 14:40

It’s a lovely name! Violet and Esther are gorgeous together too

RuthW · 24/04/2019 15:07

I know an Esther who is an Essie. It's not too similar.

Jessi88 · 24/04/2019 16:16

Thanks everyone. It’s nice to see some other shortenings too. I just assumed Essie was a popular one as it was what I saw pop on my brief search of Esther.

I have an Esther (6 months) and everyone always comments on how unusual it is for a baby now Smile

Calixtine · 24/04/2019 16:27

I love it! Perfect with Violet too.

Jessi88 · 24/04/2019 16:59

WDYT of Esther Beatrix or Esther Dorothy? Is the latter a bit too old lady?

Esther was my first choice girls name. I had 2 boys.

daisypond · 24/04/2019 17:01

Esther is great

Easterbunnyhashoppedoff · 24/04/2019 17:05

Prefer Estelle. Or Celeste.

BikeRunSki · 24/04/2019 17:08

The only Esther I know (11) is known as Ettie.

I prefer Esther Beatrix to Ester Dorothy.

Hitheresunrays · 24/04/2019 18:11

Great name, I like it x

Backhometothenorth · 24/04/2019 20:30

I have a two year old Esther. Love her name. Her sis sometimes calls her Essie. More usually we all call her Esther, Ess or Est. Great choice

Jessi88 · 24/04/2019 21:05

@BikeRunSki Bugger! I can’t have a Lettie and an Ettie Confused

My great aunt was an Ester but called Hetty as a young girl
