Dc3 on the way, sex unknown.
For a girl I like Hester as it's quite unusual.
Other names I like;
Josephine
Elizabeth

Middle name would either be Marion or Juliet.
What are people's thoughts on Hester?

Love Hester and also like your other choices :)

Zampa · 23/04/2019 08:05

I love Hester! The hare in His Dark Materials has the name and is a wonderful character.

PlatypusLeague · 23/04/2019 08:09

I'm not especially keen on Hester, but I like Josephine.

MustardYellowJumper · 23/04/2019 08:26

I like Hester! Also Elizabeth.

Not so keen on Josephine, but only because in general I don't like girls' names that are boys' names + -ine, -etta, etc.

MercyBodle · 23/04/2019 08:26

I really like Hester. It's rarely used but has feisty sounds and lots of vintage charm for me. I think both Hester Juliet and Hester Marion are quite striking. Elizabeth and Josephine are good names too, but I like the bold choice of Hester.

Icklepup · 23/04/2019 08:27

Hester Juliet

mimibunz · 23/04/2019 08:29

Sorry OP but it always makes me think of Hester the molester from Catcher in the Rye. Maybe Esther?

MsTSwift · 23/04/2019 08:31

I really like Hester. Good spot

Moondancer73 · 23/04/2019 11:15

Hester sounds like a maiden aunt to me, sorry.

TheGrey1houndSpeaks · 23/04/2019 11:16

It’s very old fashioned, in a staid sort of way.

YoungBritishPissArtist · 23/04/2019 13:59

I love the character of Hester Prynne, love the name and its association.

Calixtine · 23/04/2019 15:46

Hester is fab! I like Hester Juliet.

JassyRadlett · 23/04/2019 15:50

It makes me think of Hester Gray’s garden in the Avonlea books, which is a lovely association.

MollyHuaCha · 23/04/2019 15:55

Hester Juliet. I love it.

RebeccaCloud9 · 23/04/2019 16:10

Yuck, it's one of the few names I really dislike. It really grates on me and sound smoke such an ugly name! I think Josephine and Juliet are not great too.

KneelJustKneel · 23/04/2019 16:12

Esther would be better. Hester really sounds awful.

Josephine and Elizabeth are lovely.

lablablab · 23/04/2019 16:19

I love Elizabeth. Hester is ok.

Josephine will very quickly become Jo, which isn't great. I know several men and women, and now boys, called Jo/Joe. Very commonplace.

RuthW · 23/04/2019 16:21

Sorry I think it's an ugly name but love the other two

CallMeRachel · 23/04/2019 16:24

No way. Hester the Jester?

How about Heather?

rosydreams · 23/04/2019 16:35

i find it sounds to much like fester but Josephine is a lovely name.

sue51 · 23/04/2019 16:40

I think its a bit of an aged aunt who enjoys knitting and plays canasta type of mame.

KneelJustKneel · 23/04/2019 16:59

Fester! Thats exactly what the name brings up for me.

PinkieTuscadero · 23/04/2019 17:06

Whey faced Puritan girl who reports her neighbour as being a witch and then seduces her husband.

MerlinsBeard87 · 23/04/2019 19:03

Wow very divided opinions! For some reason I really don't like Esther it sounds completely different to me although so similar.
I like names from literature so those three names really appeal. There was a Hester who helped found the ashmolean and I'm a museum geek also.
Dh favourite is Josephine and I love little women so wouldn't mind Jo
