Maribel

Hi,
I am loving Maribel and the French meaning "star of the sea, beautiful" as we found out we were pregnant whilst holidaying at the beach.
The nickname we would use would be Belle.
But is this name a bit out there? I come from a very conservative family.
Any feedback appreciated 😀
Thanks

Hello. It sounds like a brand name to me. A children's clothing brand or a makeup brand.

Mabellavender · 19/04/2019 03:06

I think it’s pretty and if you love it you should use it.

NC4Now · 19/04/2019 03:09

I’m not keen but not for any reason other than taste. If you love it, use it.

Insomnibrat · 19/04/2019 03:48

I think it's pretty too, and I like its meaning.

Rosesaredead · 19/04/2019 06:29

I like the meaning and so I want to like the name but it's just far too cutesy for me. I've tried to imagine the adults I know with the name Maribel and I couldn't imagine it on anyone. I actually can't even think of any kids it would suit. If your daughter grows up to be anything other than a slender, dainty girly-girl then I can't imagine she'd fit the name or like it much either. It's just a LOT, somehow. Oddly though I love both the nickname options (Mari and Bel). It's not the worst name I've ever heard and if you love it go for it. But my honest opinion is that it's overly cutesy. It also sounds a bit like it's made up.

Beautiful name.

Thanks everyone, appreciate your thoughts 😀 I think I'll keep on searching for the perfect name!

I really like it and I like the nickname Mari

chloe9991 · 19/04/2019 14:41

Maybe take a name from that name? Like Mabel Or Belle or mari? I like the name you have thought of, really different I've never heard of it before ❤️

daisypond · 19/04/2019 14:47

I like it.

BasilWhoosh · 19/04/2019 15:48

I really like it and I'm normally quite conservative with names. I like that it has a special meaning for you personally.

Charlottejbt · 19/04/2019 16:37

If you love it but think it's too unusual, use it for a middle name. Clara Maribel or whatever. It would go with a lot of names.

SuperNoodly · 19/04/2019 16:43

It’s beautiful

Heratnumber7 · 19/04/2019 16:43

I love it. I love Mari and Belle as nicknames too.

DropZoneOne · 19/04/2019 16:58

I know a Maribel, she's only 8 though. Lovely name.

Still18atheart · 19/04/2019 16:58

Not keen - reminds me too much of the ski resort

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/04/2019 17:04

I love then meaning but the name isn't as cute as it should be. Marnie has a similar meaning.

barnet · 19/04/2019 17:08

Marie-Laure is an alternative and conjours up the sea (to me anyway)

BunnyJumps · 19/04/2019 19:25

Unique and beautiful sound and meaning

GMtoBe · 19/04/2019 19:32

I love the meaning but it makes me think of babybel. Sorry, OP.

Enwi · 19/04/2019 19:50

I think it’s lovely. Those who say they can’t envisage an adult with that name- I think the same of all the bell names (Isabelle, Rosabelle, Annabelle, Arabella etc). But by the time that generation are adults it’ll be perfectly normal.

Charlottejbt · 19/04/2019 19:53

I like Marisol as well, but maybe that's weird if you're not Spanish?

Yoozanaim · 19/04/2019 20:43

I absolutely adore it. Brilliant choice, and nice nickname options. It's perfect, imo.

Marisol looks pretty too, but the meaning isn't as nice.

Heyarnold91 · 19/04/2019 20:44

I love Maribel

IckyTummy · 19/04/2019 20:55

I think it's different and beautiful!
