If you loved a name BUT you knew someone who had a puppy the same name?

I have been in love with the name Ivy for a wee girl for yearrrrs

Due in 11 weeks and ivy has always been the front runner.

One of my friends has recently got a puppy and sods law named her ivy.

Would it out you off naming your baby if someone had a dog named it too?

My mum has a dog named Bella. I still named my daughter Isobel because I love the name. Not the same but very similar

No way, because Ivy is a name for a human not really one for a pet. It’s a very pretty name.

Maybe the puppy will get run over or something...

IM JOKING!!!!!!

I was actually named after our next door neighbour’s cat, neighbour used to call the name every night and so it was a familiar name. My mother had very severe PND after I was born so I guess she couldn’t cope with giving me a human name, but...well, I’m here and the cat is not! 😊

My aunt had a cat with the name we ended up choosing for our second son. Didn't put me off.

It would put me off, but I know it shouldn't given all the reasons pps have mentioned!! With no disrespect to the dog, it won't live as long as your daughter and so you should definitely go for it.
What would put me off is that I know 3 Ivys under 2!!
