What do people think of baby name Alice

So I'm 18 weeks pregnant and thinking of names. I have 4 girls and a boy already and I suspect this baby is a girl as i sent my scan off to the 'nubologists' and they predicted girl but I know it's just a bit of fun and not accurate aha
So I've thought of the name Alice for a girl. I like it but what do others think? The one thing I have thought about is what if ppl automatically think of that awful song 'who the f**k is Alice'
That song spoils a beautiful name
Anyone else have any pretty girls names

People at work were trying to guess the name of my baby and someone guessed 'Alice'. I instantly started singing that song.....what I discovered was that nobody under 30 knows that song anymore, so I don't think it will be a problem for her. I know an Alice and i don't think of the song when i think of her x

Ha, that made me laugh, it sounds like it could be a cringeworthy scene from the Office!

I love the name Alice, it’s a very young/timeless name and very pretty

MCPT · 14/04/2019 08:21

I love Alice! I knew the song, but think it's so old and irrelevant now that no one would really think it, and if they did say anything, you can just give them a withering look and tell them to grow up :)

I like classic names but Alice does not appeal to me at all. Does sound very 'wet' to my ears and I feel there are so many classic names which are so much nicer.

Aveeno2017 · 14/04/2019 13:37

I can't understand how Alice sounds wet?

CarolDanvers · 14/04/2019 13:38

Dull.

YouLikeTheBadOnesToo · 14/04/2019 13:40

I absolutely love it. One of my favourite girls names.

@Firsttimemama2017 I think the Luther connection is rather cool haha she's definitely not twee or wet Grin

I like it OP. Classic, timeless name. Also like the Alice in Wonderland connection. I know an Alice in each generation - one in her 80s, one in her 50s and one in her late 20s and they are all lovely people so it has a good association for me too. I don't know any little ones though, I don't think it's over used or anything. Go for it if you love it!

A solid, classic name. Rising in popularity.

We have one in our family so it wasn't a contender for us.

Shortandsweet96 · 14/04/2019 15:15

I'm an 'Alyce' and I still get "Alice in wonderland" and "Alice, Alice, who the duck is alice"

Its gets old, you get used to it. I'd never change my name. Its classic and generally really lovely. I do sometimes wonder if I missed out on having a personalised headband or keyring. But I suppose my mum mis-spelt it to avoid all that tack anyway Grin

villagesecret · 14/04/2019 15:18

Love it. We have one. We wanted a name where it's shortened version could be either sex as with our other children.

I did think it wet before we decided as there was a very wet Alice as school but our Alice is a feisty one!

inthedarkx · 14/04/2019 20:51

Thanks everyone
I've also just realised the Luther connection. Lol I watched the whole series and should have realised Alice was the one who helped Luther 😂
She was a classy villain too haha

What do people mean when they said 'it's wet' I don't understand it I've never heard of Tonga phrase before

I love it and it’s my DD’s middle name as it’s my DGM’s name. It’s a very pretty classic that has never gone out of fashion.
