What do people think of baby name Alice

So I'm 18 weeks pregnant and thinking of names. I have 4 girls and a boy already and I suspect this baby is a girl as i sent my scan off to the 'nubologists' and they predicted girl but I know it's just a bit of fun and not accurate aha
So I've thought of the name Alice for a girl. I like it but what do others think? The one thing I have thought about is what if ppl automatically think of that awful song 'who the f**k is Alice'
That song spoils a beautiful name
Anyone else have any pretty girls names

the only thing that puts me off is the lack of nicknames for it.

Why on earth does a short, easy to say name like Alice need a nickname?Confused

TinyTear · 11/04/2019 13:41

i have one and the song I sing is "alice, what's the matter" by terrorvision! Much more powerful and she is a little powerhouse!

HappyDinosaur · 11/04/2019 13:47

I've not heard that song, but I really love the name Alice, if only people didn't shorten it to 'Ali', which spoils it a little.

Bea36 · 11/04/2019 20:42

Alice is lovely. Classic and timeless

CloserIAm2Fine · 11/04/2019 22:55

I knew a horrible Alice growing up and I very much enjoyed Who the F is Alice, and also Alice the Camel Grin

However I’ve met a couple of adults and quite a few children with the name and those things don’t occur to me at all! Objectively it’s a nice name, and quite timeless imo

GlitterPixie · 11/04/2019 22:56

The song was in my head just from reading the thread title

hartof · 11/04/2019 22:57

I have an 11 year old Alice, I love her name and we've always had comments on what a nice name it is. It really wasn't popular when she was born.

Aveeno2017 · 12/04/2019 06:42

My cousin used to call my daughter Al I hated it. Alice is a lovely classic name and not common like some names.

OhTheRoses · 12/04/2019 06:59

17 years ago there were three Alice's in dd's reception class and three in our road. There seemed to be a wave starting in the late 90s which grew in the early 00's. Possibly localised. Seem far fewer now.

arisfurwi · 12/04/2019 07:29

I'm an Alice and also not wet! From age 16-22 I worked in a bar and frequently heard the song. However it never bothered me I could laugh along with it. And I think in years to come the song will become less known!

Tentomidnight · 12/04/2019 07:38

Sorry, I think it sounds twee and for some reason invokes images of yellow butter and iceberg lettuce in my mind. And the Vicar of Dibley.

MikeUniformMike · 12/04/2019 19:37

Love it.

DarlingLittleBabyName · 13/04/2019 13:15

Absolutely adore this name. I think it’s timeless, classic, pretty and suits any age. This would have been THE name for both my DDs, hubby likes but its got a bad connection for him. he appeased me by making it my Dd2’s middle name! i would say go for it you won’t regret it!! x

MaudAndOtherPoems · 13/04/2019 13:17

I love the name and am still mildly miffed that DH vetoed it.

lanbro · 13/04/2019 13:21

I don't like Alice, find it quite dull along with Lucy, Sophie, Emily and other names of that ilk, sorry!

zgaze · 13/04/2019 13:36

I’ve got an Alys, get lots of lovely comments about her name. She is definitely not wet!!

YouBumder · 13/04/2019 13:38

It’s fine, Not my taste but I don’t think about the song.

daisypond · 13/04/2019 13:57

I like it. I’ve never heard of the song.

notacooldad · 13/04/2019 14:11

There was a song decades ago bySmokie called Living next door to Alice.
The line goes " firx24 years I've been living next door to Alice. Roy Chubby Brown added the line 'who the fuck is Alice' it was slightly amusing for 1 second.

twinchaosdancemom · 13/04/2019 18:48

Beautiful classic name and not too overused. Suits a girl throughout her life and easy to spell and pronounce. Never think of the song Smile

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/04/2019 18:50

Gorgeous name, timeless and easy to spell.

Mommaof2x · 13/04/2019 18:50

Lovely

OhTheRoses · 13/04/2019 18:53

Oh whenever dd is in a bad mood we all slip into a rendition of Alice the Camel. Our Alice however can wrap herself in long blonde hair, and is actually pretty edgy ina surreal Alice in Wonderland sort of way. Not sure if she grew into the name or if the name grew into her. She is never ever Ally - always Al!

inthedarkx · 13/04/2019 18:58

Thank you everyone for your opinions and contributions. I've decided that I will name her Alice if she's a girl. If the baby is an boy I'm not sure what to call him so I think I'll go through some boys names Incase baby is a boy.

OhTheRoses · 13/04/2019 19:00

Our boy names were Oliver, Arthur, or Oscar. Circa 1998 Grin. Now
