What do people think of baby name Alice

So I'm 18 weeks pregnant and thinking of names. I have 4 girls and a boy already and I suspect this baby is a girl as i sent my scan off to the 'nubologists' and they predicted girl but I know it's just a bit of fun and not accurate aha
So I've thought of the name Alice for a girl. I like it but what do others think? The one thing I have thought about is what if ppl automatically think of that awful song 'who the f**k is Alice'
That song spoils a beautiful name
Anyone else have any pretty girls names

thedevilinablackdress as a fellow former goth way back in the day the Sisters of Mercy song was my first thought too.

OP, I love the name.

CrazyOldBagLady · 10/04/2019 23:23

I really like it.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 10/04/2019 23:28

Love it. Dh vetoed it here though sadly.

Lisette1940 · 10/04/2019 23:30

It was my Grandmother's name. If I'd had a girl, she'd have been called Alice. My Gran was a fabulous person: spirited and kind.

RozHuntleysIncineratedHand · 10/04/2019 23:34

I really like Alice but I'm the same and immediately think of the song which is why i have vowed to use it as a middle name instead!

Joeybee · 11/04/2019 04:07

Really like it. I've that it's classic and elegant. Also like the Alice in Wonderland association. It was on my list, the only thing that puts me off is the lack of nicknames for it.

nocluenoidea · 11/04/2019 06:26

Sorry but it does remind me immediately of the song

BikeRunSki · 11/04/2019 06:45

I’m Alice, and I am definitely not wet!
I like that everyone knows the bane, but i’m usually the only one in a good of people, although I sometimes work with an Alys.
No one ever mentions the song. In fact there are several songs with Alice in the title. No one mentions them, they are not that well known anymore.
My surname makes my first name a lot more rockier. No one mentions that either.
A-lice is a ridiculous thing to say. The singular of lice is louse.

BikeRunSki · 11/04/2019 06:49

the only thing that puts me off is the lack of nicknames for it.

Abbreviations of my name that have been used over the years have been Al, Ali and Lis, and Licia. I have also had all sorts of nicknames which have had nothing to do with my first name, and a very teneous connection - Aurora, from Aurora Bore-Alice

Bojoshatface · 11/04/2019 06:51

It's not for me, too twee and dull.

Firsttimemama2017 · 11/04/2019 07:02

I loved it but my husband said it reminded him of the serial killer Alice from Luther 😭

Pinkprincess1978 · 11/04/2019 07:53

I love it. I wanted it for my dd but DH thought it old fashioned. I think it's classic, easily spelt and not over used. Beautiful name.

PlatypusLeague · 11/04/2019 07:59

I'm not keen on Alice. It's stuffy and prim to my ears. But if you love it, use it.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 11/04/2019 08:03

I heard that song as soon as I read the thread title but I'm 39,your daughters future friends and colleagues wont have heard of it.Its a lovely name.

ThursdayLastWeek · 11/04/2019 08:06

The song will only occur to people in their 30s plus I reckon.
Your baby's peers will have no idea.

starmummio · 11/04/2019 08:07

I named my baby Alice

My first concern was the song but not one person has mentioned it

At the start I said if anyone sings it i would literally kill them and everyone was like I didn't even think of it

My husband once sang it at the start for comedy value and I said if he ever sang it again I would be so furious

He didn't again

I think it's beautiful and classic
And I love it

SimplyPut · 11/04/2019 08:21

Our eldest dd is called Alice. She is beautiful, charming, elegant and intelligent with a hint of ferocious!

MercyBodle · 11/04/2019 08:26

It's a lovely classic.

Theoldwoman · 11/04/2019 08:33

Love love love Alice.

Elegant, timeless, classical.

You can't go wrong.

Aveeno2017 · 11/04/2019 08:51

It's a lovely classic name...those calling it twee and boring I wonder what their children's names are?

Bojoshatface · 11/04/2019 08:53

I think it's boring and my DD's name is Iola. Not Lola, Iola.

Aveeno2017 · 11/04/2019 13:03

We could have a theme going on...Alice who the f@@k is Alice, and the Kinks..Lola.

BlueMerchant · 11/04/2019 13:09

Love it.
Alice is my favorite name.

notacooldad · 11/04/2019 13:09

Theres a song by Terrorvision called ' Alice, what's the matter?'
I was secretly thrilled when one of the young people I worked with a while ago, called Alice, was having a strop and I as able to say those words!!! It made me laugh to myself all day ( I guess you'd have to be there!!)
Apart from that, it's a nice name!

Antonin · 11/04/2019 13:19

Lovely name that has withstood the test of time, unlike so many recently popular names, and the memory of the song.
