I really love Persephone, I'm expecting a little girl at the moment and it's definitely a name I wish I felt I could use, but I'd worry that too many people wouldn't know how to pronounce it. I think out of the four above, I'd go with Thea (Theodora on the birth certificate). Good luck and congrats.

Calloway · 08/04/2019 10:57

The incoming class to Somerville College in 1902.

grincheux · 08/04/2019 11:04

I think I prefer Theodora of the four - whatever you choose will be shortened so that's something else to think about, any shortened versions you don't like...

RuthW · 08/04/2019 11:30

Like all except Meredith as I hate names ending in th (having got one myself)

SallyWD · 08/04/2019 11:34

Theodora is my favourite

Sophronia · 08/04/2019 12:36

Theodora

BlueChampagne · 08/04/2019 12:54

Theodora or Meredith for me.

SushiForBreakfast · 08/04/2019 13:09

Persephone or Meredith.

For some reason I don't like Anastasia or Theodora as much.

MercyBodle · 08/04/2019 13:32

I like them all except Meredith. While the other 3 seem cool Meredith seems dated to me.

I love that there are lots of good nn options for Anastasia (my favourites are Taisy and Tansy), Persephone (love Posy, Sephy, Persie), Theodora (Teddy, Dolly).

Icklepup · 08/04/2019 15:51

Like Theodora

BlueMerchant · 08/04/2019 15:54

Anastasia or Theodora are nice.
Meridith- not keen.
Persephone- really bad, try hard, pretentious and hilariousGrin

I like Theodora much the best. I fear Mn killed Persephone for me, by the baby name forum choosing it as its archetypal posh girl name (even though I don't think that's in any way accurate), Anastasia for me will be forever a series of deluded/fraudster pretenders being the lost Romanov in bad TV movies, and I think Meredith has a flicky-haired, coy, American Valley Girl thing going on.

bridgetreilly · 08/04/2019 18:57

In order:
Theodora
Anastasia
Meredith
Persephone

Summersun89 · 09/04/2019 15:18

Love Anastasia and sorry to say hate the rest. Find them really ugly.

PlatypusLeague · 09/04/2019 17:55

I like Anastasia best.

Persephone is nice too but some might assume it was pronounced "Percy Phone" until corrected.

Seraphina
Penelope
Octavia
Stephanie
Cordelia

mummymonica · 09/04/2019 20:55

Personally not a huge fan of any sorry! If I had to pick I'd go with Theodora as she could be called Thea for short

SoftBlocks · 09/04/2019 20:56

All of them except Meredith are nice.

Iamthecaptainnow · 09/04/2019 22:29

Anastasia - I like this.
Persephone - this is the joke "spoilt baby" name in our family (for a hypothetical child), so I'd struggle to use it. I think the nn options are unappealing and you'd have to correct some "Percy-phone"ing... So, it's a no from me.
Meredith - I have a personal reason to dislike the name, ie bad association, but it's actually a pretty name. Little Merry- I like it!
Theodora - love it! But worry about popularity/trendiness of Thea.

Bellaposey · 09/04/2019 22:30

Opposite to some others! Love Meredith (lovely nickname options) but don't like any of the others.

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 09/04/2019 22:32

Anastasia - I love this name. I'd possibly use it as a middle name if I ever had a daughter
Persephone - not keen, too posh/Greek mythology for me!
Meredith - cant get the association of evil meredith from the parent trap out of my head so really sont like it! It's a very harsh sounding name to me
Theodora - dont like but do like thea

DramaAlpaca · 09/04/2019 22:38

I like Anastasia very much.
Persephone is a bit try hard.
Meredith is frumpy in the extreme.
Theodora is nice enough, but I really dislike the diminutives Thea & Dora.
