Gabriel or Theodore

Which do you prefer? I like both of these names. Would prefer something not too popular (ie not multiple in a class) and think Theodore + Theo + Teddy etc are pretty popular? If we went for Theodore would use Theo or Ted as a nickname. I like Gabriel but not so keen on Gabe. Also any suggestions for names on similar lines?

Id say Gabriel, but. If you don't like Gabe. I'd go with Theodore.

If you're worried about popularity. Gabriels are everywhere and I'm tripping over Theos.

Really? I've never met a little Gabriel and we are around lots of small children. Maybe a regional thing as it's 60-something in the popularity charts. Thanks for the suggestions, I like Isaac but we know loads and Noah but it's too popular. Moses is a bit of a guilty pleasure but dh would never agree to it!

Gabe is awful.

I've always loved Gabriel. My partner vetoed it when our son was born.

I'd pick Gabriel if you like it.

Love Theodore but agree Theo and Teddy are very popular atm. Although that's not enough reason to stop you if you like the name.

Theodore nn Theo is a great name. I'd say its important you like the nicknames as you can't control the abbreviations others will use at school etc

Another note- how about Theodore with Gabriel as a middle name. This way Gabriel wont be shortened and you can still use it. Theo Gabriel flows well imo
