Does anyone have a baby Walt/Walter?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GreatAuntBertha · 30/03/2019 11:21

I've never met a Walt or a Walter. Maybe people connect it too much with Walter Softy.

GreatAuntBertha · 30/03/2019 11:21

In American culture it has a less dweeby vibe i.e Walt Whitman.

Chocolateisfab · 30/03/2019 11:22

Can you justify your dc getting Wally as a nn?

FabulouslyFab · 30/03/2019 11:23

Chris Evans has a Walt !

PhysaliaPhysalis · 30/03/2019 11:29

Walt, brother to Wilf

Hollowvictory · 30/03/2019 11:30

Disney!

Justdontknow5 · 30/03/2019 11:49

I know someone called Walter but everyone calls him Walt, he's a customer at work he's a very lovely man about 80yo.

Jessabean · 30/03/2019 11:56

I know a baby Walter/Walt - about 1 yo now I think. Is pet of the vintage granny/grandad name revival going on at the mo I guess. Not massively popular here I don't think though. Probably little more so in US.

Not my personal taste but don't actively dislike it. If you like it then go for it though!

ijustdontunderstandher · 30/03/2019 11:57

I love this name! It’s so handsome

Pottytoes · 30/03/2019 12:09

My Uncle was christened Walter but he goes by his middle name John as he hates it so much

Topofthehills · 30/03/2019 12:11

I know a ten year old Walter. I was surprised at first, but I'm used to it now, and it really suits him. A very sweet, caring, serious chap.

WingBingo · 30/03/2019 12:25

I really like it.

BlueMerchant · 30/03/2019 12:30

No, I don't have a Walt. Never will. I think it's an awful name.

Tiramisu1 · 30/03/2019 13:30

I know a 6 year old Walter, I think they shorten it to Walt. It's a good strong and interesting name.

Tiramisu1 · 30/03/2019 13:32

Can you justify your dc getting Wally as a nn?

Why would you shorten Walter to anything other than Walt?

Are Williams called Willy?

rosyedith · 30/03/2019 13:50

Haha thank you @Tiramisu1 !! And to all the other helpful answers. I was simply asking if anyone had a Walter.

YouBumder · 30/03/2019 13:52

No, it’s horrible.

rosyedith · 30/03/2019 14:08

@YouBumder what are your children named? 😊

OP posts:
iVampire · 30/03/2019 14:11

Unusable

  • Walter the Softy
  • Walter Mitty, and the number of ‘walt hunting’ sites on the internet
Chocolateisfab · 30/03/2019 14:28

My ds had a friend called William Bone.
He did indeed go by Willy Bone.
Who the fuck does that to a dc??

GreatAuntBertha · 30/03/2019 14:36

Poor Willy Bone. You really have to study a name from all angles before bestowing it on a child! Grin

rosyedith · 30/03/2019 14:36

@iVampire I've never heard of any of them people x

Chocolateisfab · 30/03/2019 14:47

May also need to tell you about his classmate Rory Lyons.
Bonkers....

MigThePig · 30/03/2019 15:38

I know two young Walters, one is about 5 and the other not quite 2.

stellarfox · 30/03/2019 19:18

I don’t know any but it’s lovely. Then only one I know of is Disney
