Herbie, Wilfred or Casper??

DS due this summer. Torn between Herbie (Herbert as given name but known as Herbie), Casper or Wilfred (Wilf, Wilfie for short). Any thoughts??

Wow, people are so harsh! I love Caspar and prefer this spelling, then Wilfred, then Herbie.
Go with what you love and don’t worry too much about strangers comments x

The nearest to Herbert I think would be Albert, and the nearest to Wilfred is William. The only one I can think of instead of Casper is Jasper. Got a cheeky ring to it I think. Next (not necessarily on this thread) people will be coming up with the likes of Walter and Percival. No disrespect to anyone of the older generation who have or had these. They were perfectly alright in their time, and in a way I like them, so I'm not being judgemental. There are some names that just seem too old fashioned at the moment and for the foreseeable future.

ShittySeasideTown · 26/03/2019 11:19

They're all awful, and a bit wet sounding. Don't do it OP.

Paddington68 · 26/03/2019 11:21

Wilf is a little close to milf and dilf

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/03/2019 11:26

Herbie is adorable. Quite like Casper, but I wish I could get past th friendly ghost. Plus its more of a Christmas name. If I'm not mistaken its the name of one of the 3 kings.

MimiSunshine · 26/03/2019 12:13

Lol I must also be a ‘certain type’ and live in a ‘certain type of area’ as there are plenty of all three names near me.

I like Casper and Wilfred best. Wilfred has the most options as he grows up in terms of what he wants to be known as so I’d go with that

Stinkytoe · 26/03/2019 12:15

For me Casper is a ghost and Herbie a car.

Wilfred is best and he can always used Fred if he wants a more common name!

I think Herbert is the best of the bunch.

ColeHawlins · 26/03/2019 13:34

Jasper is better.

Tiramisu1 · 26/03/2019 21:10

I prefer Caspar.

Icklepup · 26/03/2019 21:12

Casper

HeartShapedLocket · 26/03/2019 21:34

Casper is nice, unusual but cool yet intellectual I think. Smile

Herbie and Wilf are a bit hipster and try hard (sorry).

RoseMartha · 26/03/2019 23:09

None

QueenoftheBiscuitTin · 27/03/2019 10:09

Casper.

bumblingalongway · 27/03/2019 10:11

Casper. Love it! Dh didn't like it and I'm a bit gutted.

Reddish1 · 28/03/2019 09:29

Love all of them! Don’t understand the hate for them at all as I’ve heard them all used recently. Love Herbie (but not so sure about Herbert). Think Wilf is fab and with the longer name Wilfred he’s got lots of nickname options later on. Not sure I understand why it rhyming with MILF is so bad to be honest, you can make fun of most names if you try hard enough! Casper is lovely. I know a fab little boy with that name. Just wanted to share my thoughts to counteract the ‘they’re all awful!’ messages.

clevername · 28/03/2019 10:12

I've got a Wilfred. We call him Wilf or Wilfie most of the time.

I bloody love the name. And lots of people really love it too (although I have to admit I have met a few who clearly don't like it. Fools). I love that it's got lots of options - he can be Will or Fred if he doesn't like Wilf when he's older.

'Poor child' is harsh...!

GreatDuckCookery · 28/03/2019 10:30

Caspar is lovely.

twattymctwatterson · 28/03/2019 11:22

It sounds like you're very much trying to convey to the world how terribly posh you are

redwoodmazza · 28/03/2019 11:45

None - sorry.

Ollypops14 · 28/03/2019 11:54

Science9 · 28/03/2019 17:25
