DS due this summer. Torn between Herbie (Herbert as given name but known as Herbie), Casper or Wilfred (Wilf, Wilfie for short). Any thoughts??

bloated1977 · 24/03/2019 23:18

They are all dreadful!!

Raspberrytruffle · 24/03/2019 23:20

Neither your child wont thank you

BinkyBuntyFintyCunty · 24/03/2019 23:22

No

CarolDanvers · 24/03/2019 23:23

None of those horrible names.

cheeseypizza · 24/03/2019 23:28

None!

Thesearmsofmine · 24/03/2019 23:34

Out of those 3 I would pick Wilfred.

VanessaShanessaJenkins · 24/03/2019 23:35

I love the name casper. I'd spell it differently though. I don't understand the hate for it at all.

Shadow1234 · 25/03/2019 01:27

None are to my taste, but Wilf if I had to choose. (do not like the longer version Wilfred though).

LordPickle · 25/03/2019 01:29

None. Poor tiny chap...name him "you're fucked" and get it over with.

Linnet · 25/03/2019 01:29

Casper

Lovingbenidorm · 25/03/2019 01:41

I actually like them!
(Am obviously ‘that sort of person’ whatever that’s supposed to mean)
Must confess that I can’t help thinking about ghosts with Casper,
Wilfred is a a lovely, strong name, and Will, Wilf and Wilfie all work for me.
You name your baby what you want op!

Lovingbenidorm · 25/03/2019 01:44

Would also like to say that surely it makes a difference as regards where you live, what your surname is , your lifestyle etc
Anyone with kids in an independent London school will be able to give you a full lists of names that many would be horrified by!

They're all amazing names! So shocked by people's reactions. I would go for Casper, then Wilfred, and Herbert last because although I LOVE Herbie, Herbert might be a bit much for some people

purplepears · 25/03/2019 03:21

Well, you asked.
All awful.

ThriftyMcThrifty · 25/03/2019 03:26

I love Wilfred, it was my grandads name but I’ve heard a few little boys with the name.

Chocmallows · 25/03/2019 03:26

I don't like any of these names.

If you like Wilfred, how about Frederick, (Freddie)?

MercyBodle · 25/03/2019 04:34

I really like all 3 names (and am surprised by the amount of negative feedback since they are all current names growing in popularity in the UK). So, while they once may have been old-fashioned they are now back in. My order is Wilfred (because I love Wilf and find it very cool), Casper and Herbie.

Fuppy · 25/03/2019 04:48

Wilfred because it's very adaptable, friends will probs call him 'Wil' but 'Fred' or 'Freddy' are also options along with 'Wilf'.

Don't listen to negative comments if you like the names, and as other pp have said, these names are likely to come back in anyway!

NewFitMe · 25/03/2019 05:49

My son is called Kasper and I love that name. But then I’m not in the uk and it’s common name here

HollyBollyBooBoo · 25/03/2019 05:52

Awful, all 'trying too hard'.

Peachbubble · 25/03/2019 06:14

I like Casper/Caspar the best. Wilf or Freddie second. Not keen on Herbie - probably because I know one -who I don't like-

Peachbubble · 25/03/2019 06:15

Arghh, strikethrough fail!

NinnieNouse · 25/03/2019 06:20

Wilf.
Herbie is cute for a baby but not a name for a grown man.

sunflower332 · 25/03/2019 06:29

Awful, all 'trying too hard'.

Trying to hard to what?! To find a perfect name?

I like Caspar and Herbert best.
