What do you think of it ? Is it too "common"? It's one of the only names we have both liked so far ....

I don't personally know any kids called Max. Although I do know a chihuahua 😂

I like it. It's a nice name that suits all ages.

ApplestheHare · 21/03/2019 20:44

Love it. My friend has one but i wouldn't say it's common. Really nice name.

whataremyoption · 21/03/2019 20:57

It's a great name. I don't think it's that common and anyway, who cares!

XWey · 21/03/2019 20:58

I like it but know quite a few if popularity bothers you. I like 3 letter names in general - Tom, Eli, Zac, Rex are some I’ve considered.

MikeUniformMike · 21/03/2019 21:07

I love it.

DramaAlpaca · 21/03/2019 21:08

I like it.

NannyPear · 21/03/2019 21:11

I like it a lot. It's on our list!

ReginaPhalange89 · 21/03/2019 21:19

Oooh all positive so far !
I'm not sure popularity bothers me too much . I had a look at the baby names registered in Scotland 2017 and it was number 24 on the list that year (203 babies born in Scotland called max). Not sure about last year.

I'm a teacher and know a couple of kids called Max - both 18 years old or so. One of them I am very fond of. That said I am overseas and neither of them are English. None of our friends back in the UK who are having babies have had a Max.

polkadotpixie · 21/03/2019 21:41

I have a Max. I think it's a good name, suits a baby and a child and passes the shout-your-mates-name-across-the-pub test Smile

Stormyday · 21/03/2019 21:42

I like it. Only know one in his 50s and a dog.

Lekky12 · 21/03/2019 22:00

I have a Max! Easy to say (for him too), easy to spell, easy to write and hopefully can't get misheard!

Sophronia · 21/03/2019 23:40

I like it a lot, it’s on our list if we ever have a second DS. It is popular though.

WaterQuarter · 22/03/2019 00:00

I like it. Just Max though, none of this Maximilian nonsense. Or even worse, Maximus.

Smotheroffive · 22/03/2019 00:07

Maxwell (House) Confused

I thought max was an abbreviated version of ridiculous Maximilian etc.

Doesn't so it for me, and its a shame that you are your partner have only this name to go on...you need a selection that you both would like surely? Especially if you have to ask here for validation from others.

I would say keep searching for a name you love. Good luck with baby Flowers

nandaandm · 22/03/2019 00:29

I have a Max, he was registered at birth as Max but he was christened as Maxamillian. ( mainly down to the local Nun who visited me daily once I'd enquired about getting him christened) Maximillian I was a holy Roman emperor with the same birthdates as my DF.., it was fate, I was 21 😂 but joking aside, I still adore the name, my son is nearly 21 and has been a dream! Go for it ! X

ThanksItHasPockets · 22/03/2019 07:12

1yo DS was very nearly Max (the ‘ridiculous’, ‘nonsense’ Maximilian, in fact - I was reading a book on the French Revolution at the time). I’m glad we didn’t go for it, though. It is pretty popular in England and Wales and I’ve met three baby Maxes since he was born.

MikeUniformMike · 22/03/2019 08:05

Maximilian is fine and you can shorten it to Maxim. If he's only ever going to be Max, just use Max. Maxwell is a bit too instant coffee for me. Maximus a bit to gluteus.
I know a Max and a Maximilian known as Max.

meepmoop · 22/03/2019 08:09

We were exactly the same Max was the only name we both liked, so we went with it and don't regret it.

ReginaPhalange89 · 22/03/2019 13:26

If we were going to go with Max it would just be Max . I think all the longer versions sound ridiculous lol

ReginaPhalange89 · 22/03/2019 13:27

Should say I still have 4 months , so plenty time to find more options. But we're really struggling already!

bridgetreilly · 22/03/2019 19:24

I know several. I quite like it, though.

ItsInTheSpoon · 22/03/2019 19:27

Max is really really nice.
The only longer version I like is Maxim, and that’s because of the character in Rebecca (Daphne du Maurier story)😂

EcclesThePeacock · 22/03/2019 19:34

It's fine.
Our first dog was a Max, but named after a human (Max Planck ... somehow seemed right for a dachshund)

Bellabellabel · 22/03/2019 22:46

There must be pockets of Maxes. My 4 year old has 4 Max friends. I also know a couple of friends who have Maxes also.
