Thoughts ?

I remember liking it last pregnancy but we had a girl. Now expecting a boy and struggling to find any names. Im not liking it as much this time but OH likes it.

I like Teddy as a nickname but not really keen on Ted, it feels a bit old ?

I don't like Theodore (though do like Theo), so Theodore with nn Ted/Teddy isn't really an option

Edward maybe, with teddy as a nickname

Theo could work, if teddy is just a nickname it doesn't matter too much how similar it is to his actual name

I wanted to name my first son Teddy/Ted but my mum said it made her think of Ted Bundy... put me off!

There’s recently been a widely watched documentary about the serial killer Ted Bundy and there is a fictionalised film about his life and crimes coming out soon so the timing is not good as that’s going to be in the public consciousness. It could be because I’m interested in true crime that’s the first place my mind goes but I don’t think I will be the only one.

Hmm that's true about the Ted Bundy movie coming out , possibly bad timing ! Don't want people to associate my baby with a murderer 🙈

I have two girls already and neither of their names are "old" sounding so a lot of the longer versions just don't sound like they "fit" if that makes sense . Also anything too "out there " like Thaddeus ^^ wouldn't fit either

Theodore perhaps?... As the full name to give more options but I would say If you hate the proper name don't give your child the Nickname.

I wouldn't use a name on a birth certificate that I don't like. I don't like Theodore so wouldn't have that but id not have an issue with Theo on it's own. Unfortunately OH doesn't like it anyway so won't be using it !

I do like Ted but just can't picture it on a baby haha. Teddy is cute as a nn though

Just use the name but don't complain if your kids hates it, i would!

I like Ted but only as a nn. It doesn't give many options as a full name, it's too short for me. I like a name with options.

What about Thomas nn Tom or Tommy.

Or Freddie nn Fred.

I have a friend with a 2 year old Ted. I like it.

I’ve got a 2 year old nephew who is Edward nn Ted. I think Edward is a great name because it has other short forms too, e.g. Ed, Eddie, Ned, so if Ted/Teddy doesn’t suit him there are other options.

You can name him any name - John, Edward, Bear, Theodore, Henry etc, and STILL call him Teddy as a nickname!

Nicknames don't need to be 'justified by' or linked to someone's name.

I just can't find many names I like at all 🙈 boys names are such a struggle .

Pretty sure Ted / Teddy is off the table. Just don't like it enough for my own baby. Sorry OH 🙈
