DS is due in July. We have a 3 year old DD already, called Maya.

We’re really struggling with names this time round as we can’t seem to find anything we love as much as we did when we were naming DD.

Here are some of the names we haven’t said no to, but not sure if we like them enough to use them Confused

Rory
Levi
Myles
Rowan
Leonard (Lenny)
Alfred (not Alfie)
Albert (not Albie)

Please give your honest opinions - surname begins with B and ends in an ‘e’ sound. Any other suggestions are welcome too Smile

Love Rowan, that was on our list.

Our shortlist was Daniel, Rowan, Francis and Giles. We went with Francis.

IHeartKingThistle · 17/03/2019 18:23

I love Lenny! I wanted Laurence, nn Larry. DH vetoed. He wanted Cosmo. I vetoed. We went with Elliot!

BlueMerchant · 17/03/2019 18:24

I'm not keen to be honest. I really dislike Levi- it's 'common' to me and not in the sense there are lots of them.
Rowan, I like for a girl but not a boy.
Rory and Myles remind me of cbeebies.
Leonard, Alfred and Albert, although I like classic names are the classic names I just don't like and they are old man to me unless you used Alfie or Albie which I also don't like. Sorry.
I like-
Isaac
Owen
Oliver
Isiah
Luke
James

mrsk28 · 17/03/2019 18:43

Due a boy next month too and we've picked Caleb as his first name and Nathan as middle name.

Also have Isaac as a backup just in case!

abcriskringle · 17/03/2019 18:49

I like Levi and Myles (also Milo?).
Not too keen on Alfred or Albert.
Our shortlist for DS was: Felix, George, Sebastian and Isaac.

drunkenflamingo2 · 17/03/2019 18:53

I like Rory, and Leon (instead of Leonard).

Peachbubble · 17/03/2019 19:01

I like Rory

bitchfromhell · 17/03/2019 19:04

Rowan without doubt.

Icklepup · 17/03/2019 19:05

Maya and Rowan!

SweetbutaPsycho · 17/03/2019 19:09

Rory, Leonard and Albert are my favourites.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 17/03/2019 19:34

The only one I like on your list is Rowan.

Other suggestions:
Owen
Theo
Seth
George
Jacob
Noel
Christian
Daniel

Rory - I like Rory but know a few and am unconvinced it will age well

Levi - really dislike due to it being a brand name too

Myles - not a fan and wouldn't put it with Maya

Rowan - love it. It was high on our list

Leonard (Lenny) - like Leonard but dislike Lenny - makes me think of of mice and men

Alfred (not Alfie) - I like Alfred but dislike Alfie too. I do like Alf though not keen on Fred or Freddie
Albert (not Albie) - Albert nn Bertie is quite nice

Rowan is definitely my favourite

Jamct23 · 17/03/2019 19:51

Theo

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/03/2019 20:48

If you don't like Alfie or Albie forget Alfred and Albert. Your DS might want to be known as Alfie /Freddie.
Albie/ BertieYou don't get to call the shots on that one,
Rory and Lenny are nice

Bambamber · 17/03/2019 20:49

I quite like rory

saturdaynightgin · 17/03/2019 21:13

Thanks for all your replies!

Rowan was on our shortlist for DD before we found out she was a girl, so we’ve liked it for ages. The problem is, I now know 3 Rowans so feel like it’s overused in our area, which is a shame.

RE DS choosing to be called Alfie/Albie etc., that’s fine, I just that I don’t like them as names on their own.

Thank you for the suggestions too Smile

I'm also due a boy in July and can't find a single name even as a maybe 🙈

Rory - I like this
Levi - really don't like this at all. It screams chav to me. Sorry.
Myles - not really keen, and definitely not with Maya.
Rowan - people seem to like this but I don't at all. It's very .... Wet sounding 🙈 sorry.
Leonard (Lenny) - I actually quite like this !
Alfred (not Alfie) - not keen if it won't be shortened. Too old fashioned, plus don't think you can stop the nick names
Albert (not Albie) same as above !

MamaDane · 18/03/2019 10:49

Rory or Rowan 😁

I do like the name Albert but not the English pronunciation.

PeggyIsInTheNarrative · 18/03/2019 11:13

I think Alfred and Albert would get shortened so he'd be called Alfie Davey or whatever.

Inigo
Arlo
Vincent
Silas
Zephyr

saturdaynightgin · 18/03/2019 11:15

MamaDane is it the French pronunciation you prefer? As a French speaker I definitely do too! But I live in South Wales so it’s pronounced Al-but rather than Al-Bert 🙈

sleepstealer · 18/03/2019 11:33

Rory - ok, bit nicknamey for me. Roderick on birth certificate?
Levi - no
Myles - Prefer Miles spelling. Possibly not with Maya, especially with a 'y'.
Rowan - ok but not to my taste.
Leonard - ok, but prefer Leo as nick name.
Alfred - ok, could be shortened to Al or Fred/Freddie. Prefer Wilfred.
Albert - ok, nickname Bertie?

Other suggestions other than Wilfred - Evan, Sidney, William, Edwin, Alexander, Daniel, Oliver, Louis, Dominic, Gabriel, Robert, Mark/c, Wilbur, Eric, Frederick, Nathaniel, Arthur, Gregory, Benjamin, Walter, Henry, Simeon.

RayaJambalaya · 18/03/2019 12:58

I only like Levi on your list.

lisamac28 · 18/03/2019 17:49

Myles is my favourite from your list.

AdaColeman · 18/03/2019 17:57

Rory is my favourite from your list, with Leonard second.

Least favourite are Rowan and Levi.
