My DS is 4 days old now and we still couldn’t decide on a name although we’ve been calling him “Ediz” for a while..
I thought that name was nice because it would be easy to pronounce at school and it’s nice n shirt.

Some of my family members don’t like it and then it makes me a little unsure ..

Does anybody have any other suggestions? Please help me!

I know someone else who used Adem (all their children had Turkish spellings of ancient names so they would feel they belonged to both cultures)

Hi,

Check out:
www.arabicenglishbabynames.com

It has some Turkish names or names that are acceptable to Turks and all names work in English also.

Good luck!

Your family members are rude. Ediz is a nice sounding name btw. I quite like Deniz as a Turkish name too. But this is up to you and your husband, not anyone else.

Cem? (pronounced like Gem, which sounds nice in English, and it's short.)

yaela123 · 17/03/2019 20:07

I know several Deniz' and an Ediz - both are nice names. In a very Turkish area and no one has issues with pronunciation.

cauliflowersqueeze · 17/03/2019 20:09

Hassan?
Cevat?

HermioneWeasley · 17/03/2019 20:10

I was going to say Cem/Jem - popular Turkish boys’ name and dead easy for the Brits.

HermioneWeasley · 17/03/2019 20:12

I do like Ediz though and your family are rude.

Some nice names on here, but I really like your original idea. Ediz is a great name I’d go with it.

JumpingFrogs · 18/03/2019 18:20

I like Ediz. I know a teenage one in a very non-diverse town and no one has ever really struggled to pronounce or spell it. You really can't please everyone, so I'd stick with Ediz. They'll get used to it. My mum struggled with the names my sister chose for her kids but got used to them !

Just seen everybody’s comments! Thank you for all your suggestions, I agree you can’t please everybody and I think I will stick to Ediz as it’s the only name I like and I think it suits him :)
