Middle Name For Harlow

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/03/2019 14:33

Please help me decide!!

Harlow Olivia
Harlow Livea
Harlow Livienne
Harlow Ameline
Harlow Amelie
Harlow Amelia
Harlow Avianna

I love Olivia with Harlow but it's so popular and trendy that I'm kinda like blah on it.

Livea is a legit name that has been around even before Olivia. I like this spelling because Livia looks like you're butchering Olivia but Livea kind of looks unique.

I love Livienne but some people say it looks made up. I dont know the history. I just heard it and liked it. But I worry it's too rhymey with other middle names I may want to use for future children. Is that crazy? Does it matter if middle names rhyme or sound similar?

Other considerations are honor names like Ameline. I dont like Amelia as a first name but as a middle name with Harlow it sounds kinda good. So does Amelie.

I love Avianna but does it sound good in the middle spot?

I clearly need help deciding!! Thank you for the help!

OP. I like your attitude!

Amelie or Ameline sound lovely.
Isla?
Irina?

Fraula · 16/03/2019 20:09

I prefer Violet. I think Violetta would work with a one-syllable first name.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/03/2019 20:13

Harlow Dolly. Grin

More seriously, how about Ligia or Linnea as a middle name?

HerondaleDucks · 16/03/2019 20:15

I know 2 Harlows. They both have the middle name Freya which I think is a little odd... however! It is a popular name for little girls these days.

Ironic as I read an article in the paper today about how Harlow in Essex is the dumping ground for the unwanted vulnerable and trouble people in London boroughs.

OP if you like the name, use it!

Myusernameismud · 16/03/2019 20:20

I think it's a pretty name and if you do t ha e that automatic association with Harlow in Essex then go for it. I'd have a single syllable after Harlow though.

Harlow Jean (Jean Harlow reverse Grin)
Harlow Reid (my personal fave)

Arnoldthecat · 16/03/2019 20:25

I must confess i have never heard of Harlow used as someones name. I just conferred with my landlady and asked if she was aware of Harlow as a girls name and she looked at me with incredulity and said..What ? Harlow as in Essex..?

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/03/2019 20:33

Haha yes I'm guessing it's super American! That's okay. I am American after all.

I like Harlow Violet, Harlow Amelia, Harlow Ameline, Harlow Livia. I feel like I will have that ah-ha moment when I get the right name though. Keep suggestions coming!!

Honestly op - It's absolutely ghastly.

Harlow (it isn't a name) in Essex (a much maligned county with a few nice bits.) The poor child.

H names:

Helen(a)
Harriet
Hannah
Hester
Henrietta
Holly
Hortensia
Hilary

Does the OP live in USA? If so it could be fine,,or maybe they live in UK but plan to return to USA ?

bringbackfonzi · 16/03/2019 20:50

Maybe people should stop going on about Harlow Essex?! The point has been taken.
How about:
Harlow Ariane
Harlow Louisa
Harlow Lily
Harlow Aurora
Harlow Ava
Harlow Lucinda
Harlow Lucia
Harlow Lauren

Othelloo · 16/03/2019 20:54

You know what... I kept thinking “I’m sure Harlow is a bad area in the USA also”...and then I realised I was thinking of Harlem in New York. They’re very similar sounding.

Let’s be honest the UK crowd won’t like surname first names. And I’ll be honest and say I don’t like Harlow (sorry).

However in order to help you, I think you’re pairing a masculine strong first name with a very frilly girly middle name, so they don’t really match.

However I see the American on instagram that’s named her daughter Henley Grace.
And she just ends up calling her Gracie the whole time, never uses Henley at all. What’s the point?

To be honest it’s because Grace is so much nicer and sweeter for a baby girl than Henley.

Don’t you think that might happen? You see your beautiful little baby girl... would she look like a Harlow?

Keep that in mind.

From your options I prefer Amelia and Olivia. I know its not “out there” as your other options...but Harlow is already out there, so it’s nice to give her a normal girly name to fall back on.

Good luck in whatever you decide!

Painsnail · 16/03/2019 21:04

Linnea?

JimJamJarmusch · 16/03/2019 21:05

Is the OP some kind of reverse troll? Determined to be absolutely reasonable in the face of snark till everyone either goes blue in the face trying to be cutting or just gives up and starts being pleasant? It's a genius strategy. Grin

rumptifizzer · 16/03/2019 21:44

Harlow Hayden berk?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/03/2019 21:44

I wouldn’t have a middle name beginning with L. Too tongue twistery.

Juliet
Alicia
Jasmine
Penelope
Beatrice
Valentine
Emerald
Georgette
Mirabelle
Marigold
Constance

Singlenotsingle · 16/03/2019 21:48

Harlow is a rather grotty town about 40 miles away from where I live in Essex. Apparently they ship problem people out from Croydon and house them in converted office blocks. Why don't you call her Bishops Stortford or Cambridge?

ketchupormayo · 16/03/2019 21:49

Harlow Grace

BoudicasBoudoir · 16/03/2019 22:00

Grace is good. One syllable sounds better than lots of syllables.
Lark. Wren. Rose. Belle. Star.
Jean. (Harlow, Jean. Picture of a Beauty Queen)

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 16/03/2019 22:07

Look, people! Harlow (the town) is NOT THAT BAD! It really isn't!

I thought it would be a total shithole, the way people talk about it, but I went there and it's perfectly fine. The worst thing about it is the traffic.

Anyway I would go with the obvious, Harlow Jean.

MorvaanReed · 16/03/2019 22:20

Just a thought

Harlow Elizabeth
Harlow Victoria
Harlow Prudence
Harlow Georgette
Harlow Grace
Harlow Vivienne
Harlow Dorcas
Harlow Ivy
Harlow Rose
Harlow Isolde

ilovepixie · 16/03/2019 22:20

Harlow willow

LucyFox · 16/03/2019 22:21

I’m not a fan of Harlow but you clearly love it & that’s ok!
I definitely don’t like another “L” name, and to be honest the L in Amelia etc also doesn’t work for me
Harlow Grace
Harlow Marie/Maria
Harlow Catherine
Harlow Jane
Harlow Karen
Harlow Sarah
Harlow Dana
Harlow Amber
Harlow Emma
Harlow Faith
Harlow Kyra/Keira
Harlow Myra
Harlow Nina
I also quite like Harlow Brooke - but that sounds for too like a place to my ears!

Windingstreams · 16/03/2019 22:26

Seriously, Harlow is a god awful town not too far from me. I get your American but still...

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 16/03/2019 22:27

Ha I do love all of you! The second I remembered there is a town in Essex called Harlow, I was like oh boy! I'm in for it!!

I get it but I dont have this association and ot really will never come up!

What about Madeleine? I've always loved that name!

OP posts:
Windingstreams · 16/03/2019 22:30

I actually get it. It's like people who name their kids Bronx or Brooklyn. I roll my eyes so hard so I understand

Having been to both these places. Imagine naming your child that then make it a million times worse

We live in a global world these days ya know
