I've been whittling over a comment made when I said we liked Dinah Elizabeth for our dd. Someone said the second name shouldn't start with a vowel and I'm beginning to agree. Elizabeth is a family name but we could also use
Pearl
Lillian
Gwendolyn (maybe not!!!)
Helen
Not desperately keen on any. I want a mn because my other children have them. Any suggestions or is Elizabeth ok? I may want to hang on in case I have another dd in the future Blush

Sorry but to me Dinah Pearl sounds a bit like a brand name of some kind (Dyna-Pearl, whitening toothpaste that works!)
I don't think there is anything wrong at all with Dinah Elizabeth. It's the best of them all by far.

ineedaholidaynow · 15/03/2019 00:41

I thought you were going to call your baby Whittling!

DramaAlpaca · 15/03/2019 00:42

Dinah Elizabeth is fine, it's a lovely combination.

Peachbubble · 15/03/2019 06:10

I think Dinah Elizabeth is lovely

Preggosaurus9 · 15/03/2019 06:11

Why shouldn't the middle name start with a vowel? Hmm

ReginaPhalange89 · 15/03/2019 06:23

I don't get it 🤔 why doesn't Elizabeth go ? I think it sounds best out of the list . Flows fine

Iwantmychairback · 15/03/2019 06:34

My middle name is Elizabeth. My three initials spelt a name which became my nickname at home.
I think Dinah Elizabeth is lovely.

Palace13 · 15/03/2019 06:39

Lovely name. Go for it.
Really thought you were suggesting calling your baby Whittling! 😂

daisypond · 15/03/2019 10:33

Dinah Elizabeth is fine, a lovely name.

Letthemysterybe · 15/03/2019 10:35

Dinah Elizabeth is just fine. But actually Gwendolyn is my favourite!

AmethystRaven · 15/03/2019 10:37

It's fine! My DD's name ends with A and her middle name begins with E and no one has ever commented. True, it maybe doesn't flow quite as easily but middle names are so rarely used it won't really matter how it sounds so choose the name you like!

aliceandkids77 · 15/03/2019 10:40

Oh I think Dinah Elizabeth is just gorgeous, I think you should go with what you initially though! Otherwise Pearl x

Funkaccino · 15/03/2019 10:42

Can't see why a middle name wouldn't start with a vowel. I am disappointed you're not naming your child Whittling though.

WeeDangerousSpike · 15/03/2019 10:43

Im guessing the vowel thing is because it would be spoken as Dinah-lizabeth or Dun-elizabeth.

Realistically though, how often do you say your full name out loud? I might be asked my middle name, but I'd say it alone, not with my first name too.

I think it sounds nice. I'm not keen on the others. Lillian elizabeth has a lot of li li li to it.

Funkaccino · 15/03/2019 10:43

Unless your last name starts with a D and you're worried kids will call her Ded? Either way not really worth worrying about.

WeeDangerousSpike · 15/03/2019 10:45

Sorry, ignore the Lillian thing, I was thinking elizabeth was the one you were sure on! Blush

Tillygetsit · 15/03/2019 22:38

So Dinah Whittling it is then! I like Elizabeth best OH likes Elizabeth best so that'll be it. Thank you for all the reassurance. Whittle over.
