Jessica?

We are expecting dc2 later this year. We already have DS who is Joseph (often Joe).

If it's a girl, we both quite like Jess, probably with Jessica on birth certificate. Thoughts, especially with sibling Joe? Is 2 Js too much? I'm also a bit torn because the other name I like for a girl is Alexandra - but we can't have Jessica Alexandra (two -a names), can we...? Thoughts?

I prefer Alexandra, but nothing wrong with Jessica.

Jessica Alexandra is fine. How does it sound with your surname?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 04/03/2019 19:40

It’s a bit twee with Joseph for me. Personally I wouldn’t. Alexandra is nice.

Love it! A name that never ages.
I have 2 DD's and they both have four letter names beginning with L.

Love Jessica. Especially if you’re happy for her to be Jess or Jessie. I hadn’t noticed the “a” ending thing - I think because Alexandra is such a long name, you basically forget about the ending of Jessica by the time you get to “dra” - if that makes sense!

I really like Jess / Jessica

Thanks all, helpful.

Gah, names are hard! I always think names sound great when other people say they are using them, but am constantly finding reasons we shouldn't Confused

Jessica is lovely & perfectly fine with Joseph.

Whisky2014 · 04/03/2019 22:03

Yes Jessica is the name I'm going to use if i have a girl.

Sophronia · 04/03/2019 22:38

I prefer Alexandra

Jessica is fine with Joseph - they won’t have the post issues that 2 brothers or 2 sisters with same initials would as they’ll be Miss and Master. I think it’s also fine with Alexandra as a middle name as despite the a on the end they are totally different sounding names.

Wedgiecar58 · 05/03/2019 16:19

Jessica is my name and I love it :) Not many people love their own name, but I do and if it wasn't mine I would choose it for DD

SazCat · 05/03/2019 16:25

We have a Jessica, usually referred to as Jess or Jessie. Still love the name!

We also had a middle name in mind that ended in an A but changed it as didn't think think it sounded right.

When we have another I had thought that I wouldn't use another J name, but actually I think it's less of an issue when a girl and boy!

StellaRae · 05/03/2019 17:15

I know a Joseph (Joe) and Jessica (Jess) - sounds lovely.

BlueMerchant · 05/03/2019 17:21

Jessica Alexandra is nice and is lovely with Joseph/Joe. It wouldn't worry me to give one child a middle name and not the other if that is what you are thinking.

ReginaPhalange89 · 05/03/2019 18:30

I have a 7 year old Jessica , mostly goes by Jess . I love it . I think it's a great name ! Sounds fine with Joseph and I don't think theres an issue with Jessica Alexandra , I quite like it

BabloHoney · 05/03/2019 20:56
