Hi,

I would like your opinions on the name Nancy? I absolutely LOVE it for baby #2. My husband isn’t sure as he thinks it sounds like Nazi?? Thank you xx

I love it too! The only thing that springs to mind is “Nancy boy” but obviously that’s irrelevant. It’s a fab name!

Changedmynametoolikeyou · 03/03/2019 17:41

Nancy is very cute and it’s a name everyone knows so not likely to be misheard.

OMGithurts · 03/03/2019 17:42

I think it's quite popular. I know 2 around DD's age (4).

onalongsabbatical · 03/03/2019 17:44

Lovely name. Point your DH in the direction of Nancy Astor, first woman to sit as an MP in the House of Commons, if he wants to develop new associations with the name.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/03/2019 17:44

Love it.

Peachbubble · 03/03/2019 17:49

Sorry, don't like it

piggie88 · 03/03/2019 17:55

Absolutely love it!

Hemlock2013 · 03/03/2019 17:57

I like it but I know a few too. Seems to be getting very popular. Couple I’m my dds school already x

nightmareoncstreet · 03/03/2019 18:05

God no. I don't like it anyway and I love older names but this is so popular at the moment you might as well call her Isla or Mia or Amelia.

There are literally multiple Nancy's in my kids nurseries, primary school classes, and I've come across a fair few at work too. It's getting to be a more common name in our area.

TwigTheWonderKid · 03/03/2019 18:21

Love it! It was on my list but I had boys.

ApolloandDaphne · 03/03/2019 18:23

Nancy is my DMs name so i associate it with an older generation. It is still nice though.

BlueMerchant · 03/03/2019 18:24

Its nice. I would never ever have thought Nazi.

Tavannach · 03/03/2019 18:38

I know a couple, both in their 20s. And one horse. I like it, never makes me think Nazi. I think your DH just doesn't like it.

Emily135 · 03/03/2019 18:38

@nightmareoncstreet it definitely is becoming more popular, although that doesn’t really bother us, do you have any alternative suggestions of a similar style? X

i like it.

DramaAlpaca · 03/03/2019 18:42

I really dislike it, sorry.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/03/2019 18:51

Nice sweet name, but I don't like it. Which is strange as I love twee girly names

Emily135 · 03/03/2019 19:06

Do you have any alternative suggestions? My husband may prefer them!

I don't think it's twee. It reminds me of Nancy Drew.

I quite like it but it does remind me of people who use it as an insult - I think that’s dying out though ?
Also makes me think of Oliver Twist
