Struggling with girls and boys names...

NorthernRunner · 01/03/2019 09:25

I’ve been noting down names that I have heard and liked but I have gone off pretty much every name on my list. Not sure if it’s hormones or because I am over thinking it but any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Here is what I have, and as I say I don’t LOVE any of them.

Rafe
Jude
Kit
Percy
Nate

Pearl
Sylvie
Nancy
April
Hazel
May

Thanks for your help!

Rafe and Nancy

bluebabydinosaur · 01/03/2019 09:38

Rafe & Hazel

MercyBodle · 01/03/2019 09:59

Rafe and Sylvie are my favourites - I love these. I also like Kit, Nate, Nancy and May. Lots of good names there!

Icklepup · 01/03/2019 10:01

Rafe or Nancy

Icklepup · 01/03/2019 10:01

What about Maeve?

NorthernRunner · 01/03/2019 10:03

Maeve I do like that, and my husband is from an Irish family (although he was born in Manchester) so it feels like a nice nod to them

Bertie
Nathan
Theo

Alice
Siobhan
Claire

Shookethtothecore · 01/03/2019 11:11

I’ve often wondered how you pronounce Maeve?

I love rafe and May. I also think June is nice in the granny chic way. June is the start of summer and it has nice connotations. Sadie?

JasonGideon · 01/03/2019 11:19

I love Kit but it seems to have had a spike in popularity.

KirstyT11 · 01/03/2019 11:26

Love all your girls names.... they were all on my list except sylvie but my hubby didn't like any really 😥. He liked April but we are due then and thinks it might be a bit much.

Your boys I like kit and jude the most.

It's so hard picking a name!

NorthernRunner · 01/03/2019 13:16

shook I like June but we already have a jean so it may be a bit much Grin
Kit has had a spike in popularity, which is what put me off, as superficial as that is.
We have enough time before their arrival to mull these over.
I have always liked Rafe so it’s nice to read such positives about it. I think it sounds right with my husbands mn, James, aswell.

I have a Rafe and obviously love it :) I also have a Milo and am expecting a third boy - I find names SO difficult especially boys names so I feel your pain!
Kit is also on my list, as are Kitto, Otis, Scout, Caspar, Artie, Atlas, Otto, Rudy - I'm not sure on any of them either but swinging towards Otis atm.

Girls names of yours love Sylvie, May is sweet as a first name.
Other girls names on my list in case any of them take your fancy are Clementine (I'd definitely have this for a girl). Iris, Gala, Lilac, Clemence, Appoline, Silver, Cece, Ottilie.

Sometimes if you leave it a bit you warm to something either on the list or that you may have heard before much closer to the time. Milo I had heard of but not considered before but I started really loving it just as he was born.

NorthernRunner · 01/03/2019 15:20

Husband would definitely go for Appoline as he is a massive Prince fan 😆

I think I need to wait until baby arrives. I’m finding names are giving me such a headache at the minute.

It’s not made easier because we don’t know the gender

Ipanema01 · 01/03/2019 15:25

I've tried to take a step back too, it's driving me nuts Grin

How long have you got?

NorthernRunner · 01/03/2019 15:36

4ish weeks

OP posts:
NorthernRunner · 01/03/2019 15:37

And even then they could just be baby for a bit I suppose, although it would be nice for DD to have a name for her sibling

Ipanema01 · 01/03/2019 17:54

It’ll come to you Smile

NuffSaidSam · 01/03/2019 18:00

I like Jude and Kit from your boys list. Nate is nice. Really don't like Rafe. I love Percy, but a lot of people really, really hate it! Put me off using it!

Luke
Jake
Jago
Arlo
Mathew
Dominic
Riley
David
Samuel

I love April. Hazel is lovely and really underused. May and Nancy are quite nice. I'm not fan of the old lady names so Pearl and Sylvie are not for me.

Lucy
Madeline
Clara
Fleur
Dolly
Rose
Sasha

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/03/2019 20:35

Rafe- I really like it if only it didn't always autocorrect to rape :(

Jude- nice but i know quite a few. Love it as a middle name. I also actually prefer Judah

Kit - lovely but needs a full name I.e. Christopher/ Christian

Percy- not a fan which is strange because i love Percival

Nate - again nor a fan but love Nathaniel

Pearl - beautiful name
Sylvie- I like it on somebody else's child
Nancy - really dislike
April - very pretty. I also really like Avril
Hazel - gorgeous classy nane
May - love May as a first name, also like Maeve and Mavis

If I had to choose one I'd go for Rafe and Hazel

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 02/03/2019 00:01

Rafe - not sure on this one but you may like Ralph or Rex?
Jude - love
Kit - love
Percy - see I kind of like this but it does seem a bit posh/geeky tbh!
Nate - bit too american

Pearl - dont really like this
Sylvie - cute
Nancy - dont like. I've seen a lot of threads about this name so it seems to be getting popular but I really dont see why
April - cute
Hazel - love
May - not keen, you might like Maeve?

How about:
Robyn
Cora
Fearne
Holly
Willow
Wren

Rex
Ralph
Leo
Leif
Finn
Rowan
Rory

The above are suggestions based on the fact that particularly with your girls names you seem to be drawn to nature-y names?

NorthernRunner · 02/03/2019 14:30

Molly thank you for your reply!
I do love more nature sounding names, not too girlie if you know what I mean. My dd is Jean.

Wren was on my list but my relative just used that name, and my cousin but also best friend is holly so baby will have an Aunty holly.

I am really taken with Ralph and Cora.

Husband likes Kit the most out of the boys list but I am still hanging onto Rafe.

Hazel is his granny so I think if it’s a girl it will probably end up being hazel, which I’m more than happy with.

Glad I could help a wee bit!

Hazel and Kit are gorgeous!

Would love to use Kit myself but my partner has a family member called chris(topher) that he doesn't get on with and seeing as Kit is traditionally a pet name for Christopher it feels a bit awkward :(

MumUnderTheMoon · 03/03/2019 22:30

I love the name Kitt but with the "tt" I think it looks more complete.
