Middle Name - help me decide!!

I posted awhile back but still trying to decide! We decided on Ameline but working on the middle name. These are the choices:

Ameline Lolette - for some reason I keep coming back to this. I know it may be a little out there but I love it. I think its so unique and classy and flies so well.

Ameline Lola - if Lolette isnt something that resides with people, I like the simplicity of Lola but I almost wonder if it's too little girl or too Latina sounding?

Ameline Dahlia - someone suggested Dahlia and it really stuck with me. I never liked it before. I know it's a flower but it always seemed rather gothic to me for some reason. But paired with Ameline, it really goes. I also have a grandfather named Dale and I think it kinda sounds similar to honor him.

Ameline Charlotte - I never cared for Charlotte before either. It sounds too preppy! But since I cant use Madeleine, I'm looking for something as equally as classy and sophisticated and Charlotte really does go. I guess I like that "Lo" sound that Lolette, Lola, and Charlotte all have.

Ameline Laramie - this is a French name and city in Wyoming. I really love it. I thought I may name my next dog this but I keep seeing it on French girls name lists and it makes me take pause.

Ameline Madalie - I found this as a variation for Madeleine but not sure it has the same ring

Ameline Natalie - I do like the name Natalie. Its beautiful. I thought I may go with this but for some reason I'm finding it a little boring with Ameline.

Ameline Dakota - I never liked the name Dakota but my dad just passed away and he was from South Dakota. I thought maybe it would be a way to pay a tribute to him.

Ameline Marty - this is my dad's name. Not sure if he would even like it used as a girl's name. Could also do Martina or Martine. I kinda like Martine the best but not sure if it's too rhymey. My brother just had a baby and already used Martin as a middle name so I'm also not sure if we are just overdoing it.

Please help me decide!

I'd go for Louise/Louisa

Ameline Lolette is just lovely. So feminine and pretty.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 25/02/2019 04:10

Thank you, I love Lolette so much!! I think I saw it as a alternate variation of Lola. I didnt make it up! But its very rare. I just love it. Super feminine.

I also forgot that I have Ameline Harlow on the list as well. But I had Harlow chosen for another pairing. I mean who knows if I'm having another baby or if it will be a girl but I had it matched for the name Avienne Harlow. I get so attached to certain names once I find a first and middle name I love together. I don't know what is wrong with me!

Are you American, OP? Taste in names is very different on different sides of the Atlantic. It's hard for us to judge what would sound classy or preppy or whatever in a different country.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 25/02/2019 19:08

Yes I am! But I see the same name trends on this site as more American-popular ones so I didnt think it would matter that much!

Mm Lolette sounds like a brand of tampon....

Lolette sounds like a brand of tampon

I was just about to post exactly that!

OP, given your connection with (South) Dakota I would go with that. In my opinion the lack of 'l' s helps the flow of names.

E20mom · 25/02/2019 19:48

I would just say to go for one that doesn't also have 3 syllables. It sounds better.

allwaystuckin · 25/02/2019 19:56

Ooh Ameline Elise sounds nice just an idea. However the first name is beautiful on its own, a second name isn't mandatory

ColeHawlins · 25/02/2019 19:59

Are Ameline & Lolette both established names or are they unique spellings, or...?

I think the problem with using both together is that people won't be familiar and so they will be mispronounced, misspelt or mistaken for something totally different. She'll have years of "Sorry? Amélie Nanette?"

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 25/02/2019 20:02

Thank you!

I love Lolette but yeah I can see it sounding like a brand name for something funny because its not common. It's not made up though. I got it from a list of variations off Lola. Someone else said it sounded like a porn star name! It's my favorite choice but that is why I am asking. Because if it sounds too out there, I wanted the criticism.

Dahlia is really growing on me. And Martine actually is as well to honor my dad.

I love Lola for the middle name. I think those two names flow together really nicely.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 25/02/2019 20:09

Ameline is a real name. I originally wanted Amelise but I got a lot of flack. Amelise is not a real name. It's the combo between Amelie and Elise. So... interesting to think about Ameline Elise. I dont like Elise as a middle name because I feel like it's becoming very filler but I do like the name Elise.

It was important for me to find a name starting with Ame or Ama to honor my grandma without doing anything that could get confused with Emily or Amelia - way too popular for me.

Don’t really love Lolette because it reminds me of Lolita. Also it seems like too many ‘L’ sounds with Ameline! Not a fan of Dakota/Natalie/Madalie/Laramie personally.

I do love the name Martina, it’s very pretty, classic and strong and not overused and would be lovely to honour your dad Flowers

MercyBodle · 26/02/2019 01:50

I think Ameline Marty sounds by far the best. I wouldn't try to change Marty to something else - just great as is. 2nd choice is Ameline Charlotte. Ameline Natalie is nice enough but the 'n' s run into each other . I really dislike all the rest, sorry.

How are you pronouncing Amaline? Ama-line or Ama-leen?
