I am thinking of calling my daughter Lilia. What do you think of this name?

Pretty, I like it.

olalala · 17/02/2019 01:40

I forgot to mention I am also considering lily, Leanna and Eliana.

I'd go with Lilia, its gorgeous.
Surely the Lily obsession is over now and
I also quite like Leanna.
Elianna is a bit try hard.

DramaAlpaca · 17/02/2019 02:37

I'm sorry, but Lilia reminds me of a brand of sanitary towels, Lilia Whites, which I am old enough to remember.

I do like all your other options, especially Eliana.

  1. I love Lilia. So pretty. But prepare for it to be misheard as lily/Lilian. Maybe practice saying the name to people to see if it bothers you.
  2. I don’t really like lily, I find it a bit chavvy.
  3. I don’t like Leanna
  4. Eliana is nice, and has good nn like Elle, Ella, lia, ana
Hollowvictory · 17/02/2019 07:07

There are a zillion lily and Ellie type names in every school.
What else are you considering?

olalala · 17/02/2019 08:03

I am also considering Areej. What do you think?

OP posts:
TildaTurnip · 17/02/2019 08:04

I like all three!

MikeUniformMike · 17/02/2019 14:38

Lilia - ok but it makes me think of own-brand tampons.
Lily - nice but massively overused
Leanna - dated
Eliana - just too much

howdoyoukeepawaveuponthesand · 17/02/2019 14:41

Elia is nice. Don’t know if it’s a real name but it’s a character in GoT (although she was raped and murdered so maybe not)

Liliana?
Liana? (Italian spelling of “Leanna”)

MikeUniformMike · 17/02/2019 14:53

Elia is an italian boy's name.

Smoliver · 17/02/2019 16:40

I love Lilia. If you're considering Lily though, I'd go with Lilia. You can always go with Lily as a nickname.

Eliana is nice too. I have a friend called Liana and I always thought that was pretty.

Liliana might be nice option for you too.

SallyWD · 17/02/2019 21:24

Lilia is lovely. Pretty but not fussy. Nice and simple.

BlueMerchant · 17/02/2019 21:31

I personally think they sound like part of the Lily/ Ellie crowd name just with added extra bit to try and sound 'unique'.
Leanna sounds dated and just not right somehow in my opinion.

Lampy123 · 01/03/2019 06:16

Lenaia? Pronounced Le-nay-ya

daisypond · 01/03/2019 08:08

I quite like Lilia. How about Lilian, or Lilias, a Scottish version of Lily? Or if you like a bit more flounce, Liliana or Liliosa, a Spanish version?
